Cortina Girl Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 In Last weeks life on mars when they talked about the London bombings, it hit a raw nerve, at around the time the programmes set I was learning to drive in my dads baby blue D reg Mk1 cortina. I loved that car & within 3 lessons could reverse to about 3inches from a wall, I was always cleaning & helping maintain her. When I passed my test dad was going to let me have her. Then one morning he went to work in Putney, parked by the bridge & come back to find her gone . The police told him he`d have to wait 6 weeks then claim off the insurance. I just wanted the car back. Two Weeks later on the 6 o`clock news a light blue D reg Mk1 cortina stolen 2 weeks before at Putney bridge was used by the I.R.A in a London bombing, the same night the police told my dad he should claim the insurance as he wouldn`t be seeing the car again. He asked if it was the one & was told "Sorry sir we can`t tell you that information". I was gutted . So much so that I got a motorbike & still haven`t got a full car licence, but now with a Mk1 & Mk5 in the family I think I`ll start learning again. By the way can anyone tell me how to get details of my dads cars please?
MK5 Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 not sure what you want to know but you can get some info from the DVLA here http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/ use the vehicle enquiry option
Cortina Girl Posted March 14, 2007 Author Report Posted March 14, 2007 Thanks For the suggestion, I`ll give it a try What I`m trying to get hold of is the reg numbers of some of the cars he had including the Mk1 as I can only remember a couple of them now.
