I think I know how you feel.. a few months ago I (in a manner of speaking) threw all my toys out of the pram. Still sitting here on my arse not knowing what to do with myself tbh. Let's hope 2013 is a better year.

Beautiful! The girls aren't bad either.. So did you.. er.. you know?

I wasn't driving, but 140ish in a Mondeo ST24 police car. Don't ask how or why. -

Thank you Vista. I had a suspicion those ebay ones were a bit much.. at least now I know what they're really worth. Cheers! -
Mk2 Escort Van/Estate - Fiberglass wings

So does anybody have any idea how much I should ask for them? I found these on ebay, although they are steel rather than fiberglass.. I assume the steel ones would be more desirable? -
Thanks for all your replies. @Escort Mk1 4 Door. Sounds interesting. How little money would you need to part with it? @Mossy. Sounds like a lot of fun.. Too much fun for me, I'd probably kill myself. @XjamesX. Guess I'll drop him a line at some point. @theloudboy. That is a thing of beauty. Think I'll PM him, maybe he can offer some pointers. @garyv6100e. I like the idea of keeping it Ford, but the 302 seems a little out of my league price wise. Plus I'm not that keen on tuning it for power.. although if it is able to pull off from the lights in a cloud of smoke (tyre smoke that is ), that would be a bonus.

Guys, I keep getting this little voice in my head telling me my Mk2 Van wants a V8 donkey under the bonnet. Not for the sake of going fast, just something a bit special for shows etc, with a nice growl. Do any of you have experience with such a project? I've heard of people dropping Rover V8s into their Escorts. What would be a good engine to use?

Mk2 Escort Van/Estate - Fiberglass wings

To be honest, I don't really know how much I should ask for them. They're in as new condition, never fitted - they've not even been painted. And I should mention I'm in Northern Ireland, so I'd prefer to sell locally. -
Are they worth anything? Found them, along with some other goodies, at the back of the shed in the roof space behind a mountain of other stuff.

I was talking to a guy today who reckoned he knew a guy who could cut and shorten axles and half shafts.. He said it was a decent job and relatively cheap, but hmm. Anyone tried this? At any rate, I think I'd be very happy with 13x7 ET -7 on the standard axle, as that was what I'd been looking at anyway. Thanks again for the help fellas, I'm off to spend some money.

Can you remember offhand what the offset is? I want to lower the van by 2" and have the deepest dish possible without flaring the arches. I'd rather not roll them either, prefer to stick to mods that can be undone. Thanks for your replies

LMAO! In the van, I carry a small fire extinguisher, spare battery and some jump leads, mobile phone, some paracetamol and about 10 stone worth of Rottweiler.
-
Well, she went through ok. The guy was actually very decent, he even overlooked a couple of minor issues.. so I've got the winter to get things sorted out for next year. Thanks for the help chaps!

My spots are currently disabled, or perhaps there is a switch somewhere that I don't know about. The previous owner sadly died, quite suddenly, leaving the van for me to take care of, so we never got the chance to really talk about details like that. So I guess if an MOT inspector is checking my lights and spots are present but don't light up, that would be a fail? Here in NI we have Government run, dedicated MOT centres and the guys there can be right c**ts when they feel like it.. Time to get them fixed.

Hi guys. Got my MOT booked for the Van this Friday, so I'm trying to get time to go over everything. I'm not sure about how the spotlights are tested, I seem to get a different answer depending on who I ask. Are they supposed to come on with main beam? or should they be independently switched? I can't seem to find a conclusive answer to this question on the web either. Cheers!

Welcome to the autocracy. This *King bullshit* has to stop! *Apologies to Mods/Members who this language may offend, but let's be realistic here, the kid gloves must come off if our freedoms are to be maintained. Time for the British people to put our collective foot down and say "OI!, NO!"

To fit a 79 Mk2 Escort van. I've looked at various Minilite 'replicas' on ebay etc, most of which look nice and seem reasonably priced considering they are brand new. Are replica parts going to get me laughed at? How wide can I go without widening the wheel arches?

I can think of a few cars I'd like to blow up, but the Mk1 Escort isn't one of them.

Complete waste of money, and utterly inexcusable given our current situation. Stadium looks nice though.. http://www.marcuschown.com/THE%20HEALTH%20AND%20SOCIAL%20CARE%20ACT%20-%20Briefing%20-%20Marcus%20Chown.htm

Thanks for your input everybody, you've helped me a great deal here. The Insurance certificate the guy gave me states it is company insurance (a large and powerful oil company actually), so I have no doubt he will have claimed to cover the cost of his own repairs. And given that there is every likelihood the incident is on record on a database somewhere, I guess I'll just have to claim and hope for a reasonable outcome. I am going to get a quote for the repair elsewhere though, £625 seem utterly ludicrous for all the damage that's actually been done. When I told the guy it was for an insurance claim, I could almost hear a 'kerching' sound. I wouldn't be surprised if he had trumped the charges up. Thanks again. Kevin

Hi guys. Here's my situation. My car (BMW 318i e46) was damaged while parked and unattended outside Tesco. The other driver has accepted liability and given me his insurance certificate and contact details. So normally his insurance company would foot the bill, correct? One concern I have is, I bought the car as a category D write off, fixed it myself and put it on the road. Will this affect my claim? What are his insurance company likely to do? I've sunk a fair bit of time and money in to getting this car the way I want it, so I don't want them to turn around and offer me a grand for it. I've obtained a quote for the repair with a local company and it's (apparently) going to cost £625 to repair the damage (some minor scratches on the passenger front wing, bumper and replace some door trims.) Should I get another quote? Will my premiums rise after a non fault claim? Should I even claim at all? The damage is minor and I could fix it myself I suppose.. TBH, I'm p****d off because some tw*t who apparently can't drive has caused me all this trouble. Any suggestions appreciated Cheers Kevin /End rantage
