  1. As you get one choice of vote for 'staying as is' yet 3 choices for change I'd say its not a fair vote. If you were to add all the votes for change together then theres only a 4% difference (as it stands), not really that much in it, to me that speaks volumes.
  2. I think its unfair to assume that its only 80's Fords that are distastefully modded, I've seen plenty of distastefully modded 60's and 70's cars in my time........ I for one don't like huge wheels nor do I like massive sound systems in my cars, yet I would fit in the new-old skool bracket thats being discussed.
  3. ^^^^ Thats a good idea ^^^^
  4. Yeah as said before though mk3 escort was in production in 1980 ? So wheres the MK3 Escort forum?? I think thats the problem here, its not really clear where the line is drawn.
  5. It was just a suggestion, but actually not that complex in the great scheme of things. I think you will always have the why is X car in and Y out question regardless what you do.... damned if you do damned of you don't I personally can't see the difference between a MK1 Fiesta and a MK3 Escort.... both FWD, both came fitted with an ohv engine, both had metal bumpers with plasic end caps etc etc.... MK2 Fiesta is almost identical to a MK1 bar a few cosmetic changes..... Maybe you could make it clear what cars you cater for on the registration form regardless which way this poll goes?
  6. Question, what year was the site founded? I'm a recent member to OSF only to find out that my car wasn't Old Skool!! Take this as an impartial view, not a dig.... People owning OSF's are only going to drop over the next few years, with the amount being broken/scrapped/written off etc and this may have a detrimental impact on membership/site visits etc My first impressions (from my experience) coming on here are that some people are set in their ways and don't like change. The way I see it is there is no definitive answer to what is Old Skool as everyone has their own interpretation. It needs either an exact year cut off point (like as it is now 1980) but then that means some MK1 Fiestas and MK2 Escorts won't count as Old Skool when others will. I think a description of the car and the way it was built count more for their "Old Skool-ness" than their age. Something like...... Did some of the models come fitted with metal bumpers showing their bodywork underneath? Does the body have external gutters? Did some of the models come fitted with a carburettor when new? Did some of the models only come with manual windows when new? Are the windows gasket glazed? If ALL of the answers to the above are yes then its (imho) Old Skool. Just a thought
