Hi all, ok this isnt actually going in my capri but need a little help with wiring up an electric oil pressure gauge on my merc 307d recovery truck, ive had a problem with the oil pressure sender unit ( i hope lol) so would like to fit an electric pressure gauge so that i can keep an eye on the pressure, ive bought a cheap autometer gauge from ebay that comes with a sender unit, now if i put the new sender where my oil light sender is can i put the oil light and wire to the gauge on the same terminal or will they interfere with each other?? as it occured to me that if i fit the gauge i wont have an oil warning light lol and if possible would like to keep the light. im sure that this is the same as fitting one to an osf so hope its ok to put it up here lol, any help would be apprciated cheers Jason

the way ive always done it is to take a bolster chisel and hack off most of the wing ( on the upright from the drip rail) then when its off and out of the way take an angle grinder and grind the spotwelds where they attach to the driprail, if you use a pair of pincers (like what carpenters use) you can use these to roll the remainder of the wing back when you have ground the spotwelds, this leaves the driprail totally intact ready for you to fit your new wing!, but remember if using a grinder COVER THE WINDSCREEN!!!!! if you dont you will burn it and get lumps of metal melted into it not that ive ever done that hahaha, that goes for welding it in again aswell if you go down that route. there may also be a couple of 10mm bolts down the A post not sure been ages since i took a wing off a cappa lol. hope this helps Jason.

ahh yeah i guess ur right, i will get a known make, the walls big enough for it but i think im gonna be a bit close to it lol, so maybe just go for a 37 inch, not sure yet, and what sparked it all off i saw an advert for call of duty 5 and then went on the website and saw all the trailers, that looks the business lol, who says advertising doesnt work!! -

didnt even realise ashford was on lol, not been there in ages would have liked to have a chat with asbo, as ive got his old yellow capri (well the bits off it anyway) mind you im so engrossed in building a mad max replica out of his old v8 engine i dont get much chance to get on here now lol. still bet i missed a humdinger of an evening hopefully ill get on to the next one!
-
Tut Tut how can you not know the professionals! what id give for that bit of motoring history, placed only number two in my books to madmax's interceptor!!! seriously tho, be nice to have it brought back upto scratch tho, and yes i seem to remeber reading somewhere that in the first series it didnt have a sunroof then in the next it had one lol. anyway nice to see its getting done!!!

ordered my GAZ front inserts and -1" springs for my capri two days ago online and they are now sitting in my house, as always very impressed with the service, did it online and got emails saying order accepted and then one saying it was despatched. I find rally design a bit like shopping at burtons only they arent obnoxious on the phone and are a mile cheaper so get a big thumbs up from me!!!
-
lol this is sounded very funny lol, well its gonna live on in a Y reg shell now, im gonna MOT the capri first then change all the V8 bits over, I moved the capri to my yard today (that was hassles lol) yes asbo you did a good job on this one, the steering didnt want to steer off my recovery truck lol, I got it done tho...just lol
-
yes the warriors a rare engine, well its had a good life just a shame it had to end so suddenly, but ill make it live on in a new shell I might leave it as a sleeper for a while totally standard looking with steel 13's but with the kick of a mule lol. but eventually its gonna be a madmax replica satin black and loaded to the hilt
-
wow sounds good, I think ill need the lsd to put the power down really and i think it will kill the 1.6 axle i have in the other car lol. Ill keep you posted tho on the build and hopefully it will all come together soon, im picking it up tomorrow and going to put it in storage for a bit, can i ask if you ever had a supercharger on it, as its got the bottom pulley for one fitted, that would make a wild car then lol
-
Yes please mate, that would be good of you, well its actually a Cat B breaker only but i know the people in the local breakers and they bid on it for me...but i lost it (it was in Copart salvage auctions) I bid 250 and got outbid at 275, I forgot about it untill yesterday i was browsing ebay and i couldnt believe seeing it on as a breaker only so i got intouch and said how much for the complete car as i have a Mk3 capri sitting round thats not used so will reshell it into that. anyway he said I want 500 for it, and i hit him back with 450 and thats what i paid lol. after i went a saw the carb it had on it today i thought it must have been worth it for that alone. If you could tell me all the details on the engine i would really appreciate, also what back axle has it got, looks like it was a 2ltr as its got multi leaf springs (or am i wrong on the mk2??) but in all honesty it looks like the engine is a real peach although the bloke said he thought it was seized as it wouldnt turn over but i got it going by dipping the clutch so maybe theres a problem with the box from the accident?? hope not but beggers cant be choosers ol. anyway rest assured the engine will live on in another car, oh where abouts are you in the country?
-
Well peeps this is my new car, as you can see it needs a bit of work well a new body lol but still its whats under the hood that im interested in, does anyone know it on here, as you can see it has a pretty unique colour scheme.... If anyone has any info on it I would appreciate, also it had a blower fitted at some point as its still got the pulley on the bottom.
-

When British and Polish workmen come head to head!
nitrousnutter replied to nitrousnutter's topic in CHIT CHAT
yes your all right they are shoddy at there jobs, i saw on the news that they are more willing to work than english labourers, but the stansard of work is terrible so its not worth doing! im sure that there will come a time that the big companys will open up there eyes and get the english back to work ok pay them more but get the job done right first time!
