  1. Good luck, I tried to find one for ages but you might get lucky and find one. I used a hammer as above and it's always been perfect
  2. I'd love to know but unfortunately I don't. I know that doesn't help but I'll get you some pics at least.
  3. No sorry it owes me much more than that.
  4. 350... haha ... the carbs were more than half that I'm open to reasonable offers.
  5. I would like one and I like the idea of it but I don't think I could afford it. I'd like to try and do something different, and maybe cheap at that
  6. Toying with selling the xflow in my Escort. 1600 711M block, not sure on the spec inside. Lots of new parts though. Twin 40 dellortos, ashley exhaust manifold and sportex exhaust, PLR heavy duty engine mounts. Aldon auomotive non vac distributor with lumenition electronic ignition, everythings there. Mk2 Escort sump, mechanical fuel pump but I have a baffled blanking plate and malpassi filter king fpr to include, alternator, loads of spares too. It's complete and runs but I fancy a change. Carbs ran ok but needs setting up to get the best out of it. No idea on price though if anyone can help/make me an offer? Located in Bedfordshire.
  7. Ah okay, the one pictured above works, and in the description of the one I bought recently also states it works with them but I imagine I'll probably need to change it all now cheers.
  8. Is it essential for the non cheapo (200 odd quid Lumenition) type electronic ignition too or can I still keep the ballast setup I've got using that?
  9. Yeah I've got a multimeter but not got round to checking it yet - but from what I can gather Escorts use a ballast type, and that it's somewhere in the loom. I see what you said about the ohms too, coil seems to say 1.5 on it too indicating its a ballast type. Cheers
  10. Stupid question probably but is there a way to distinguish if I've got a ballast or non ballast type coil? I've got an ancient old lucas one that came with the car and its a bit duff and it's one of the only things on the car I haven't changed and probably should. I've got a xflow with this lumenition ignition kit, I was looking at using this ,or this as a replacement for the one I have. TIA
  11. 3.54 diff?
  12. Thanks, I did give it consideration before buying, the specs are close as far as I know but I figured they would need setting up anyway. I'd like to be able to drive the car regularly on the road so I'm looking to use a distributor with vacuum advance rather than without it, and I'd like to use the Lumenition internals I have if anyone can recommend the right distributor to use with all this in mind?
  13. Yeah I considered short trumpets although I know the length of the trumpet does affect things, don't think I've seen anyone use them but I might try it as it could potentially be the easiest option. Also thanks about the dizzy, I'll keep it then if it's right and play with the timing and see how things are especially with the new carbs as I haven't run it on them yet (though they were taken from a running 1600 xflow so they should be okay hopefully as a base)
  14. My Escort (running a 1600 xflow) didn't run great and I think I narrowed some of it down, there was a flat spot low down and I think the carb was jetted for a 1300 rather than 1600, I scored some twin 40 dellortos which were set up on a 1600 xflow so I'll be using those - my car is a RHD base model so no servo but the trumpets will still touch the brake reservoir/master cylinder - whats the easiest way to get around this? My old Mk2 had it behind the driver's side headlight Secondly, I pulled the dizzy out to check what it actually was as I always thought the advance was a bit weird, the guy who set the timing said it couldnt be done correctly which is a large part of why it doesn't run right - it's stamped Lucas and 103FXYS (Aldon vacuum-less side exit?) - should I still use it or ditch it for a different one? I'm using a Lumenition ignition so if I do change I'd like to put all the internals in the new one And lastly, the clutch makes a god-awful fluttery noise when setting off, is it the release bearing or something else? TIA
  15. Dated mine as June '76 build so not quite old enough :/
  16. Wheel still for sale, also just found my old set of clocks - they're from my base model and missing the fuel/temp gauge. Clean and in good condition so they'd be nice to fit your own gauges into and make a custom set. £35 posted.
  17. Hi did you want the wheel or do you want to let Jack have it? Cheers
  18. Oh I see... is it by much or just a tiny bit?
  19. A little more info here http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/ipb/index.php?/topic/82695-recaro-seats/
  20. I've done this in my Mk2, the seat bolted straight to the standard runners and then straight into the car. I can't imagine they're much different on a mk1?
  21. Sure. Another thing to add to the list is a Weber 32/36 on a xflow manifold, has the K&N filter too in working order as it's been on my car - not sure what its worth so £100 + postage?
  22. Hi sorry the Slotmags just recently sold although I have another set with tires that are on the car I may be convinced to part with - the wheel is still available though. I won't be there as it's a bit of a trek for me although it would only cost me £4-5 to post
  23. Lenses sold, wheel dropped to £75ono and slotmags dropped to £150 Edit: Slotmags now sold. Have also got some 13x7 Weller wheels, the modular type not the 8-spoke ones. In 4x108, ET15 perfect for old Fords. Almost brand new condition £225 ono can post
  24. I'd like to change out my diff for a 3.54 or similar 3.77/3.89 if anyone has one. Closer to Bedfordshire the better, can straight swap for my 4.1 diff?
