  1. Will get some more pics soon but I have following for sale: Springalex wheel with matching boss for Mk2 Escort - £85 posted ono? Mk2 Escort clear indicator lenses - £30 posted Variety of Xflow engine parts including mostly complete 1.1 711 engine 13x7 Slotmag Wheels by Cobra - £175ono All parts located in Beds/Cambs can post too.
  2. I wish it was that simple
  3. Ok so I've been informed a few things, fpr wont be necessary with standard pump, jetting will be difficult as I have no idea what cam is in it, and the non vac distributor needs to go - I assume the lumenition parts can be transplanted into another dizzy?
  4. I've also just found a fuel pressure regulator - worth using/anyone have any experience with them on a xflow?
  5. To be fair a 250 mile roadtrip isn't the first thing you do with an engine you've never really tested! I've got a list to start working through that will hopefully get it running nicely and reliable...
  6. So I have that 1600 running in my Escort now, no idea on the reliability of things so after mot'ing it thursday and taxing it friday, I drove it 250 miles round to goodwood for Player's Classic today.. I left at 4am and the boot decided to lock itself shut for the first time in 2 years of ownership.. (any ideas??) The engine (1600 xflow, weber 32/36 twin choke, ashley exhaust manifold, lumenition ignition etc) is running pretty badly from what I can tell, it feels a little wispy and it's also leaking towards the back of the rocker cover - maybe change from the ally one to my old steel one? Ebay fuel filter is rubbish, its tapered for some reason and doesnt seem to let the clamp grip tight enough to prevent leakages There's a flat spot too so carb possibly needs a good clean and/or rejetting if it came from a different engine to the one I have maybe? I think theres more potential in it if I can at least get it running right, I have a lot of love for the car but its really irritating me now, I never had any issues before - obviously they're expected but I just want to be able to enjoy it after so long not driving it
  7. Cheers, which stand is your pass for/what are the requirements?
  8. Might be jumping the gun a bit but seeing as my car now runs it may just scrape (both figuratively and literally) into the classic ford show with a weeks worth of work and parts. So I was wondering if there was anywhere I could get squeezed in last minute if it does get done just in time - im sure I saw a list of clubs/stands somewhere?
  9. Awesome to see this on again I'll be coming down
  10. Sorted. Used the inner wire from a bike brake cable looped around and pulled it with a fair bit of brute force and it just popped the bonnet open - I'm dead sure I put the bonnet on straight but maybe if it was a little off then the pin wasn't quite straight and it wouldn't release or something along those lines? Anyway thanks all for the suggestions! My engine mounts are here too so I can finally replace the broken one along with the other one for peace of mind
  11. Don't get me started haha the whole thing has been a pain in the arse, the actual engine swap was fine its just all the stupid setbacks I've had/having, I wish I just left it alone but it's too late
  12. Still no luck with this, the grille has been off and i've tried all sorts to get it to open but it wont budge. I may have to resort to some form of plan B
  13. Still no luck not sure how to do it without breaking it, I think there might be a bolt or spanner or something thats made it stuck somewhere
  14. I feel like an idiot but the bonnet on my Mk2 Escort has stuck shut so I can't open it, it did it before but I can't remember how I got it unstuck. The bonnet release pulls as usual but the bonnet doesn't open, it seems held down/doesnt budge towards the center where the spring is. Nothing to do with the catch as thats not doing anything Usually when you open it it pops up a little and then you pull the catch to open it but the bonnet barely moves after pulling the release in the car It will push back down as when you usually shut it and so you can pull the release again but the same thing happens
  15. And yeah its an awesome thing James, would really suit the style of yours
  16. Clips under the window rubber, although I'd do something else to secure it just to be safe as I always think about that old Top Gear episode where the louvre flies off the Starion!
  17. Don't want to get rid of these but needs must.. first up are these slotmags. I'm cleaning these up a bit more every now and then so they're looking better than the above photo, bottom right is one that's closest to being done. They're 13x7's, ET25 - I have an identical set on my Escort and they look fantastic. I have some 175/50's I can throw in, fitted or not fitted or just not included if you don't need them. Next up is my genuine Autoplas rear louvre, fits a Mk2 Escort, awesome rare period correct item. Good condition for the age. All located in the Beds/Cambs area, wheels are £200 or £250 with tires and the louvre is £200 I've got some other random bits too like an 1100l steering wheel, an old super lightweight bucket seat and some other stuff I probably forgot I have
  18. Still nothing after putting the wiire to the pos side, but as you said if it's got resistor in the circuit it needs a separate supply, as it wont work with less than 12v
  19. Ah yeah I see, thanks for explaining I haven't checked tbh so I'll do that as well tomorrow
  20. Ok so it may be that the little wire coming off the loom to the positive side of the coil remains there with the new setup (old one pictured), and then the red wire for the electronic ignition also to the positive side apparently. That was how I first had it setup but not with the extra one from the loom It'll give me something else to try tomorrow
  21. Cheers for the help, I'm going to look at it again now maybe see if I can find anything wrong somewhere on it I've just changed to my old coil which worked before I took it off but still got no spark
  22. Yeah just moved some stuff around it reaches now, will give it a go Edit: Nope still nothing :/
  23. None of it reaches again, could I just use the old 1100 distributor and coil on the 1600 for the time being and then sort the electronic one later? Or are they different
