  1. Thanks Vista 👍 Your Van looks awesome ! Right at the start of the project ( 2017 !) I thought about creating a build thread in a forum as I had done with my custom bike builds in the past (Oldskool Suzuki was my fave) - but at the time there seemed to be a massive swing away from forums as social media took off and many really good forums died a lingering death. I still think this is a shame , as places like Retards Club just don't offer the same 'community' as forums did. So rightly or wrongly I captured my build progress on a Retards Club page https://www.Retards Club.com/CossieMk1/ and later on, posted a few bits on YouTube too I'm really glad to have discovered this Forum though and I'm looking forward to making a positive contribution 🙂 . I'm nearly at the end of the build now , but If you think it would be appreciated , I could 'go back' and start a build thread here - I've still got all my old pics and it'd take a while , but I'd be happy to share. What d'ya think ? Lee
  2. I've been visiting the Isle of Man on my motorbikes for the TT or Grand Prix every year since '97 . It really is a beautiful place that holds a certain 'magic' . I should have my Escort well on the road by September next year and the chance to drive it on the Manx roads (many of them unrestricted 😉) is very appealing ! Those prices though ? the cheapest option (single person camping for 3 nights) works out at £470 If I choose to stay with my friends over there and give up the camping pitch then a 'ferry & event only' ticket is an extra £20 at £490 !!?? I may just book my own ferry at £260 and tag along...
  3. I've paid my dues and joined the Cult of OSF When / How do I get my membership number please ? Many thanks Lee
  4. Nice one , thanks Phil - Glad you enjoyed them 🙂
  5. Thanks chaps , much appreciated 😊 I've taken an absolute stack of photo's during the restoration , so I wont spam this forum up with them - but if you want to see them , you can find them on my Retards Club build page here > https://www.Retards Club.com/CossieMk1/photos_albums Later on in the restoration I also started a bit of a YouTube channel to document the build https://www.youtube.com/@Cossie.Mk1/videos I'm really looking forward to getting the car on the road . At the end of this month , I'm booked in to get the exhaust system made for the car ( the one on there at the moment is cobbled together just so's I could get it running) , then the last job is to retrim the interior - this will included making the rear seats from scratch , so it will take a while . I'm hoping to have it properly finished and road ready by the end of Feb next year 😁
  6. Hello everyone, I joined this forum back in 2017 when I first got my rather crusty Mk 1300L . Since then I've spent much of the last 7 years down the garage and I'm afraid that I haven't posted a thing on this forum. So I thought I'd better introduce myself and share a few pics of my journey. I'm Lee from the West Midlands , a 55 year old factory worker and confirmed petrol head . My late Dad introduced me to the world of classic Fords and we attended many shows back in the 80's in his Crayford Corsair 2000GT Convertible . He taught me pretty much everything I know about cars and motorbikes. For the last 20 years or so - I've done several custom bike builds but always hankered after building a Mk1 Escort . Finally I ditched the 3 sheds at the bottom of my garden and built a small workshop where I could build the Mk1 I'd always wanted as a yoof. So , enough waffle about me - here's some pics of what I've been up to for the last 7 years ! Lee
