My advice is to just take it like a man and shop around for an insurance co that won't penalise you for your 1st 3 pts. If it is a static point then you have little room for manouvre, if it was done by a real person then I would be able to give you some advice. As for Pip's suggestion that you say that your speedo cable broke, then that is not a valid defence as you have still commited the offence of speeding, also you would be committing perjury which is a lot worse then a simple speeding ticket . Yes the ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) rules are that it is 10% of the limit so for a 30mph limit, 10% of that is 3mph, therefore the limit before getting a ticket would be 33mph, being caught at 34mph is im afraid just plain old bad luck
