Few pic's from the local Ford meet today, we had a great turn out of some very nice car's and the weather was nice too
We have a meet here on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm, everyone is welcome so hope were see a few more people at the next one
The yellow mk1 was running a 1760 xflow on bike carbs, what was a surprise was how well it held on through the bends there was no way I could stay on the power to keep up.
I was using std road tyres the yellow mk1 was running Toyo R888 track tyres which explains a lot.
I still will be going but on a different stand, some of the local lads cars I will be with are made from a more plastic vintage and would not be suitable for display on the old skool ford stand
My manifold was direct from ric wood at the time was about £450 the 42 dcnfs came from a v6 maserati with linkage from ebay, £180 I think I paid at the time, don’t see many come up for sale these days.
If you could find a original ford manifold and carbs £1500 would be about you would have to pay for a good set up.

Zetec is the way forward, you can’t beat the reliability and the performance for the money
Yes the Pinto is a lot cheaper to install but you will need to spend lots of cash on tuning to achieve a powerfull engine, weight of the pinto is high spoils the turn in looks ugly unreliable and a std Zetec on throttle bodies will out perform most pintos with the wind behind them.
Yes the zetec conversion is expensive to start but once its up and running it becomes very cost affective, if the engine goes bang you only look on ebay or the local scrap yard to source the next engine replacement and not be faced with a expensive rebuild the old pinto has had its reign
