  8. if its done that many miles all the rubber seals will be hardend and then leak .sump gaskets shrink, then leak. you could just buy new crankshaft , cam and auxiliary seals ,then fit them all, see what happens?also rocker cover gasket.
  9. what about the maize yellow with a pinstripe, thats a nice period colour. why put rs stripes on it when its not an rs? (just my thought)
  10. get rally design's own brake pad's, max torque, they work really well. got the same on my mk1, 8"drums on back with princess 4 pots on front with 257 disc's.with bias box. pad feel is good, no servo.
  11. i think the thicker type ring's are the older type hepolite type piston's.had trouble finding them for mine last year.the thinner ones are the newer type(i think)
  12. i made mine, easy to do, used 3/4 steel gas tube, free from work .weld a 12mm nut on the end. . cheap male rose joint about £14.00 from local bearing place, used a 12mm bolt to bolt to axle. flat plate to make bracket to weld to axle. inner track control arm bush for chassis end. i think about 2"box section welded from chassis rail with a cut out for the bar to go in.then braced it all up to under side of floor pan, copy it from a pic and make in position. sounds tight ,but i am also need 2 spacers to go either side of rose joint to allow it to twist. didnt go through floor.
  13. good pics, i was the rs same colour as yours, said it was a sh@t colour as you left!!!
  14. dont bother with a servo now ,it should be good without

  17. have always since 1992 run a 73degree thermostat from a crossflow, just cut the metal down with snip's. from the advice of roland haye's.(h/t racing) never had a problem.
  18. when fitting the princess 4 pots from new you have to take the caliper off the strut. put a block of wood between the pistons/pads. then as you bleed it turn the caliper so that each bleed nipple is at the top in turn as you bleed it. its because there is no fluid at all in caliper. i had same trouble. this worked for me.
  19. i run a straight cut box in my road rs 2000 mk1 and love it!!! it just brings a big grin when flat out ,the whine sounds ace then when on long runs 4th is 1/1 and goes all quiet so its not that bad.
  20. front springs from rally design are only £13.90 each, get some new ones then you know what you got.(crossflow170ib or pinto 220's.
  21. the passenger side looks right, the drivers side looks like it could be just pushed in.
  22. you will need unf nuts with tapper washers, may have to roll the rear arches as done to the rs 's. should be no trouble.
  23. too new for a mk1 stick with the metal one the gaskets dont fall out the sides as tim said soon to be common as
