I'm 58. My OSF is a 1966 Mk1 GT Cortina. Had it for coming up to 32 years. Started driving in 1968 with a 100E. Other OSF's have been a Mk2 Zephyr, 2 105E Anglias and a Mk1 Cortina Estate. Modern daily driver Fords have been a Mk4 Cortina, Sierra and Orion. Current daily driver is a 1991 Jaguar XJ40. Almost a Ford, they owned Jaguar when it was built. Less than 18 months till my free bus pass, winter heating allowance and 10% off at B&Q on a Wednesday, so much to look forward to.

A few more pics from Gozo. The black Capri and the white Bentley were immaculate. There is a bus on Gozo with 4 Mk1 Cortina rear lights on the back. Saw it back in 2004 and again this year but it disappeared before I could get a picture.

Just got back from 2 weeks on Gozo, one of the Maltese islands. Loads of old British vehicles over there. Here are some pics.

Had mine 31 years. Had 100,000 miles on it when I bought it in 1977. Done another 142,000 miles in my ownership, not on the original engine though. Currently on engine number 3.

I will be missing this one. Cannot get anybody to swap shifts with me. First one I have missed since I joined the Mk1 Owners Club in 1984. Gutted with a capital "G"

SP1963 was the Girling repair kit part number for 5/8" bore brake and clutch master cylinders fitted to Anglias/Cortinas so possibly yours is 5/8".

Had a 2 week holiday on Gozo in 2004. Saw loads of old British vehicles from the taxi between Malta Airport to the Gozo ferry. Stayed at a place called Xaghra on Gozo, there was a Mk2 Escort being worked on in a garage there. Thought I saw a bus with 4 Mk1 Cortina rear lights on it, was so convinced I went to the bus station in Victoria one morning hoping to see it again but no luck. Any of you Malta boys know of such a bus?. Enjoyed the place so much that we are going back in September this year for another 2 weeks. A few Gozo pics:-

1968, my first car. 1957 Ford Prefect 100E. Paid £55 for it. It had a habit of popping the front circlip that held the gear cluster to the gearbox mainshaft and the shaft would slide back through the rear bearing and 2nd gear would be lost. Had it down to about 90 mins to remove box and replace circlip. Solved it in the end by putting a valve spring in the prop sliding joint so that the mainshaft could not slide back when the clip came off. 1970. 1960 Ford Anglia 105e 997cc. Paid £35 Cheap and rusty. 1972. Ford Zephyr Mk2. Paid £55. Great car, had the fully reclining front bench seat, spent many summer nights crashed out in that. 1973 Another Anglia. Paid £100. This time a 1961 with a 1500 engine, really solid car, wish I had kept that one. 1974. 1964 Mk1 Cortina 1500 Estate. got married that year and had our first child so sold the Anglia and bought the estate. Paid £80. Bought it from a local farmer who had been using it for milk deliveries. High mileage and had to replace the rear spring hangers but it gave me 3 years fautless motoring Great load carrying capacity, moved house using this. 1977. My current Ford. A 1966 2 door Mk1 1500GT Cortina. Paid £95. It had 800 miles on the clock, just been round once, on it's 2nd 100,000. It needed another engine, £35 complete from a scrappy in those days, and had a dent in the drivers front wing. Used as a daily runner till 1993 when I changed jobs and was doing 20,000 miles a year, only breakdown I ever had was a snapped fanbelt. I've done 141,000 in this car over the 31 years of ownership, now on engine number 3. 1993. 1981 Ford Cortina Mk5 1.6L. Paid £240 with 11 months MOT. Got it through the next MOT but not worth repairing after that, Probably think differently now though. 1995. 1984 Ford Sierra 1.6L. Paid £600. 1998. 1986 Ford Orion 1.6L. Paid £650. Had various short term non Fords over the years, 1960 Mini, 1957 Austin A35, 1961 Triumph Herald Coupe, 1992 Vauxhall Cavalier, and my current daily runner a 1991 Jaguar XJ40. Also have a 1964 Daimler 2.5V8 bought cheap and rusty and took 2 years of most of my spare time to rebuild.

I shall be there on the Saturday, not missed one since I joined the club in 1984.

It's been found. Echo appeal leads to return of classic car By Andrew Napier Comment | Read Comments (3) A WINCHESTER classic car enthusiast has been reunited with his cherished Jaguar - thanks to the Daily Echo. Roger Lloyd, pictured, was beginning to think he would never see his beloved white Jaguar XK120 roadster again. The 1951 model, valued at about £40,000, went missing from his home in Hensting Lane, Fishers Pond, when he was on holiday last month. Following publicity in the Daily Echo, Mr Lloyd received an anonymous tip-off with details of the car's location. Police found it on a remote farm in an undisclosed location in Hampshire and arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle. The man was released on police bail until July 29.
