"I play lead in this band, love." Keith Moon's reply to Pete Townshend's question about if he plans on keeping time.
  3. Drivers who stop at junctions from minor in to major roads and look left first!!! Very unnerving in your classic! I mean, where are you going to get hit first, from the left or right? Just take a moment to look how many people do it next time you're out. I suppose its all to do with this fast-lane lifestyle we're all supposed to subscribe to nowadays
  4. That customer was me. I think we all know the story behind my Escort, it took a couple of months and the involvement of Trading Standards to get my money back (I still had to foot the bill for the bodywork carried out by a proper specialist!!!!). It has however, left me quite emotionally scarred to the point where I just cannot trust any classic car I see in the classifieds. So much so that I'll probably never own another classic Ford again Sorry to dig this up but I haven't been on for a while.
  5. On TS they're chopping the bottom of a MK1 out and the top of an Impreza turbo, dropping the MK1 over the Impreza and welding it all up making a boxxer four Escort 4WD turbo http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread. ... 289&page=4
  6. A screamer pipe is a smaller section of exhaust pipe taken off the wastegate and out into the atmosphere (see rallycross RS200's). They're not to be confused with dump valves which do vent excess boost pressure into the atmosphere. Normal turbo downpipes have the wastegate exhaust section welded onto the main downpipe a few inches along it therefore silencing the noise same as the main exhauset gasses. With a seperate pipe off the wastegate when the wastegate OPENS to vent the exhaust gasses to prevent the turbo from destroying itself there is no silencing so it screams. It probably screams also because of the smaller diameter of pipe used. Also you don't need an external wastegate to have a screamer pipe. Something like this. and...
  7. Welcome to the forum! Thats a fair collection of old Fords you've fixed up! I hope the Escorts you built are better than some of those turned out by other businesses in you area
  8. Welcome! Good to have some more Cheshire folk on here!
  9. yeah totally haha. I'm in no desperate hurry to get one. I really do like guzzis, theres a big dealer called motostrada near me, been in a few times to check them out. A lot of the stuff I like, such as guzzis and the speed triple are around £7000 and £8000 + finance. Still the XJR1300 looks bloody good value at £5600 and 0%. I might try and get a test ride on one over the holidays. Still love bandit 1200 too, had an early one a few years ago that I fixed up from a cat C right off, was a great bike. The hydraulic clutch on the XJR is very heavy in my opinion, so bear that in mind. We've got a baby Blade! Gear driven cams
  10. We're very much a biker family here. Can't ever see us not having them. We'd love a BMW GS each
  11. The 'Bland is still very much the born-again's choice
  12. Its still true today
  13. You mean FireBlands? Probably tucked up with their pipe and slippers like their owners
  14. Thanks for printing my pic (wedding chariots 2) I fear that'll be her first and last hurrah though
  15. Hopefully I'll be able to publicly post some updates soon...
