hows it going clearing the garage out and found a few parts and just wondering could any of you give me an idea of what they are worth 2x mk2 escort 2dr doors with glass and handles 2x mk1 escort 2dr doors with glass and handles, all doors are good condition no rust etc mk2 escort boot lid mk1 escort boot lid 1300 x-flow, miliage unknow but was running perfectly when removed just wondering if anyone can give me a bit of an idea what they are worth thanks michael

Hows it going mate? just wondering if you can give me a bit of info about that mk1? whats it lowered at the back and what springs are used on the front. is it also a standard english axle on the back? and guessing are the wheels 13x7j? Just getting to that stage myself to build up my car and just seen that one and looks to sit perfectly!! many tanks michael.

Also any idea what's better to run ? A 2000e box I have or buy a type 9 five speed will there be much difference performance wise? Don't mind about moving the gear stick back, I just think the 5 speed will be easier with the off the shelf clutch etc . Thanks

hi again finally got stuck into the mk1 escort last week, got the 1300 x flow out stripping away getting ready for the full respray! just looking for a point in the right direction im sure this has been answered before. just about the engine conversion, looks straight forward so far.. rs 2000 engine mounts and big rad are my sort of concern how far do i need to chop etc to fit in the bigger rad? and also what way do the rs2000 mounts go as far as im aware there is a long one and a short one right? many thanks

hi hows it going got this stuff to put on bare metal called galvafroid it is a zinc rich primer and looks good so far anyone ever used it and know what its like in the long run? also do yous think it would be good as a base coat and then primer over when getting around to a full respray? or do yous think the like of the red bonda primer would be be better? many thanks

happy days, the waterbased is getting a good coverage and looks well just wasnt to sure about what to do next about the matt finish... must say dont think id have the payience to do a whole car, il leave the mk1 escort to a real painter to spray and tell him to use 2k i think! ... oh aother thing, how long after the clear coat to polish would overnight do? any recomendations what t polish with, i was thinking g3 with the buff and then super resin polish... or just super resin polish with alot of elbow grease?? -

anyone had a go spraying it yet, had a go at spaying it the other night and couldnt get a gloss finish,now on to the second attempt tonight in the garage. All the paint goes on fine but when its dried its very matt. do you rub down th waterbased paint before the clearcoat?? or do you put on a good few coats of clear coat then 2000 grit wet and dry then polish? nevery done any spraying with waterbased...... any advice would be usefull Cheer!

yeah handy enough with the welder!mines rhd, but just hearng from some people there talking thousands for this swap, but really all you should need is engine mounts from rally designs? and a bit or swapping and sorting things out, think i will run with the standard 4 speed x flow gear box thats in it unless i can get a 5 speed somewhere! whats that company retro ford would you have a contact for them? cheers

just bought a pinto for my escort! was toying with what to put in and this came up and couldnt refuse! ready to bold in! any threads in here to tell me what needs changed or to watch out for, its just currently running standard 1300 x flow and 4 speed gear box! was hunting through my old classic fords as i remember it give you a guide, but think its been chucked out! cheers lads

that sounds good! no will just have to look into the gearing and diffs etc... dont mind to much about going over 90, as long as it gets there pretty rapid il be happy!!

feck 153 is more than i woulda thought, and keeping it well stripped out its bound to have a good power to weight ratio!! and i guess thats without spending stupid money on steel crank and forged pistons etc....

I know there is always debate about pintos and x flows, was thinkin just to upgrade the mk1 escort to a 1600 x flow, just don't know if it will be under powered. It would be easier than puttin a pinto in, not going to spend a fortune was thinkin like a 244 cam webers 421 manifold Ashley 2" system 1300 pistons and get head porter and polished, and will prob get a diff sorted, not going to spend a fortune on diffs and a gearbox. . Anyone running anything similar or know rough 0-60 times top speed, bhp and what ats like to drive. . I know it depends alot on the diff and box but even a rough idea would be good to reasure me I shouldn't get a pinto! [/img]

another quick one, take it i will need a brake servo when i change from drums to disks on the front of the escort. or could i get away with the standard master cylinder just?? if i need one anybody know anywhere cheap to get these from? cheers

Just got refurbed m16 calipers for my mk1 escort in work today, can get mintex pads ordered too. . Anyone ever tried the m1144 compound or m1155 pads just don't know what to get? Just going to be running a 1600 x flow (hopefully well tuned) for fast road use!! And don't mind if they make noise lol . . Cheers

that sebring red is doing it for me! deffinatly between that of the oter red with white stripes! maybe a sill question that sebring red just down as red in the tax book or orange just wondering with m.o.t over in Northern ireland
