  1. I can see what you're saying about this but where do they draw the line? it has always been 'wheels day', not hotrod or classic day. I spoke to them a few years back when rusty olf Fiestas started turning up with thousands of pounds worth sound system annoying everyone. Luckily that only happened the one year although I think the kid in that Focus wanted to give us all a taste of his music. This year my mate took his freshly finished '57 Chevy pickup (on the NSRA stand), my wife drove her '72 1300xl Mk1 escort that we restored a few years ago and I took my '05 Ram Daytona Hemi. Her Escort got lots of comments and admiring looks which she was thrilled about. The Chevy again pleased a lot people prompting much conversation and even my Ram had people looking around and in it. Some people just love modern Yank stuff, as I quite do too....but yes, even a stock jeep doesn't do it for me, but maybe he thinks the same of mine or a stock Cortina??. maybe my Ram shouldn't've been allowed on the show ground but it gave pleasure to some, and isn't that what wheels day is all about? Me personally, I avoid the PT cruiser club area which they kindly mark with a big flag and walk straight past stuff like the focus. But I love looking at everything from Model A ratrods to 100e's with monster motors. VW campers etc don't float my boat but I know they have a massive following, especially the older 'surfer dude' type ones, so that's cool. I guess they're going to need a massive step up in the organsation department after having road closed on them this year. I for one hope it doesn't change how Wheels Day is run 'cause it's a fantastic day out and the best possible start to the show season.
