  1. Ive got 175/50s on mine. Probably not a good idea if you intend to track your car though!
  2. Ill be coming up on Sunday morning, not 100% sure about times yet. I just found another thread, that said to click on the banner, so ive done that and bought a ticket now. So, er, yeah, apologies Ill keep my eyes peeled before i open my mouth next time, haha. Thanks tho, see you all there.
  3. Im going up, and wanted to have my car on some sort of display. Just been on the official site and it says spaces for the pride of ownership thing is sold out. Any chance of getting my car on with you guys? I dont really post on here much, and dont really know anyone, but thats what shows are all about - getting to know new people The cars not really top-quality show standard, but looks pretty cool... have a pic. Ive not been up to the show for 3 years, and never had a car on display there before, so dont really know how it all works. So apologies if this is out of turn or whatever.
  4. Thanks again guys, the cars far from finished off though. Hoping to get it resprayed next spring, planning on doing as many miles in it this year to make sure its reliable first though. Totally agree about wheels making or breaking a car. With the capper 4-spokes on it just looks like an old Escort. The splits totally trasform the apperance And as for not conforming, well, thats the whole point isnt it?
  5. Thanks for all the positive comments guys Im not sure what was first - the compos or the Ronals, lots of different manufacturers have produced similar wheels to these. Compomotive sold the design to Schmidt who sell them as TH-Lines in a massive range of sizes and are very popular in the VW scene. They dont have the lettering though, so arent quite as cool Must've looked amazing in 10" on your rod dude! As for 8s on the back, they just fit, we've had to roll the arches and pull them ever so slightly. Its all about the right offset tbh. These have got a relatively high offset, not sure on the exact number, but i think its around 20-something. I could probably measure it if anyones interested?. Ive used 5" inner rims and 2.5" outers (the centre is half an inch wide).
  6. After a lot of aggro ive finally got my Compomotive Turbo split rims built up and on the car, just in time to go to wheels day They measure up as 7.5x13 on the fronts and 8x13s on the rear, with 175/50 tyres all round. A bit of blatant self indulgence posting a thread up about them i know, but just wondering what people on this site thought of them?
  7. I WILL make it this time. I know ive said it about the last couple, but my Escy is on the road now. So no excuses lead foot mrs lead foot hellblue James G Fast Eddy Warnzee
  8. What was your best time to get the quickest rwd trophy?
  9. Ive got an XE powered Chevette, which me and my old man built last year. Its tonnes of fun, and cost a lot less to do than an Escort would have. Plus, as the car itself only cost me £120 im not that fussed about throwing it at the scenery. Dont think you could say that about an Escort! Its not as good looking as a mk1 Escort tho.
  10. Hey up, i'm having a bit of a dilemma. I dont know what alloys to buy for my Escort. Its a 4-door mk1 in burgendy, with mex wings, and i'm about to fit a 105E back axle. I was thinking about some 15" Image splits, but ive now decided that they'll look too big, so thinking maybe 14s, or perhaps keep it 'proper' and go for some 13s? As well as not knowing what size, i cant decide what style either Its gotta have loads of dish, and look right on the car - nothing too modern. What would people suggest? Oh yeah, pics would be sweet as well, if possible, thanks!!!!
  11. I had a set of 4 15" alloys blasted and powder coated white not long ago, cost me £150. But was down here in Exeter, so not much help for location, but might be helpful for price?
  12. Yeh mate. Dont think theres many of us about
  13. Id be well up for this... as long as my Chevette would be welcome...
  14. I'll put my name down for this one as well. Not been to Ford Fair for years.
  15. Thanks for the PM! I'll be there. Looks like its gonna be a busy year for shows
