  1. bigger tyres!
  2. Open the bonnet and look for strengthening plates over the strut tops, most overseas cars where heavy duty shells with strengthening plates and skidded chassis rails. Its not RS type 49 spec as they didnt have tramp bars i thnk its type 48. BTW its very nice original car!
  3. The white one is ok for a a 4dr! Over here in Thailand they never sold 2dr mk2s only 4drs. Its intersting to see what can be done to a 4dr. I remember seeing a 4dr conversion on ebay rs2000 front complete with X Pack arches, he cut took the window runner out of the rear door to create a 2dr look,it wasnt finished as he didnt have glass for it ,suppose yu could use perspex if need be? Heres another 4dr driven by Richard Hill ,it won the Robin Hood stages in march 2008 ahead of Bjorn Waldegard and Stig Blomqvist. The next is a "works" prepared mk1 4dr complete with big wings and rich tea wheels!
  4. Lovely car 12.5k and no bonnet rubbers? i have 4x NOS they will stop your bonnet moving around and marking the paint.
  5. Fabricated from the original wings mate ,pieces of steel added as we went along.think they are a bit too big to be honest ,but i can live with them. Logos have been air brushed.
  6. Ok its gone from this to this very slowly. It drives so it means now i can add it in readers rides and also run it down to my mates place and start ripping out the nissan engine and sort the brakes and suspension out
  7. On the road shortly
  8. your right not availabe overseas but privatly imported in the 70's. MK1 Mexico found in thailand.
  9. Just found this piece on type 49 shells.. to quote Just for information, (back in the 70's) when the bodies used by AVO, they were heavy duty "export" shells, so they had the double skinned inner guards and chassis skids, but the rest of the "type 49" conversions were carried out by hand. This involved using a Gas Axe to cut holes in the rear chassis rails for the anti-tramp (radius rod) brackets, which were stitch welded on. Gas Axeing the gearstick ring from the top of the trans tunnel and enlarging the hole, before stitch welding a new plate on further back to cover the longer gearboxes Drilling a hole in the upper bulkhead for the hydraulic clutches (which they also did on RS2000 shells, even though it was not used) Stitch welding on the heavy duty exhaust hangers and I think they also brazed the studs into the boot floor for the stone deflectors, which were only fitted to early cars, even though the studs were on all cars, I never got a definite confirmation on that one though, but it does look like it was done by hand
  10. Nice one ,thanks for that. At the front end the strut tops should have double plates on them and additional stiffening on the inner wings under the arches. Does anybody have a picture of this additional stiffening mentioned?
  11. I know they have anti tramp brackets but what other differences are there on the shell from a base model..
  12. BLOWER. Is your bro's name mark? I think i ive spoken to him for sure . Thanks for the welcome off the site looking forward to posting a few pics of wats going on..
