I need the bracket that secures the top of the pedal box to the bulkhead please. RHD and good condition, can be cut out roughly for me to separate. Posted to Stafford, Midlands. Thanks

You can't beat free! This is the chap I was on about: http://www.balljointboots.co.uk Nice bloke, very helpful.

I can't see which one you mean as I can't see photos at work but I have contact details of a guy that sells loads of them in different shapes and sizes. I replaced the ones on the TRE's as the original ones were split (probably someone not taking great care taking them off) and didn't want to go to the expense of another pair of RS2 greens. I'll dig out the details and post them up here when I get home.

Got the cheque while I was away and paid it into my account. Thankyou for your help with getting my refund Simon. Was reading the July issue on the plane (40 years of RS), good issue so far, hope it is a detailed report on how to fit a weld in roll cage as need to do one shortly... Keep up the good work.

This might just be me but I doubt it somehow, I ordered a back issue in February from myfavoritemagazines.co.uk which payment was taken for on 16/02/10 and it then took till April 28th (after a number of emails and phone calls) for them to get back to me saying that the magazine was out of stock and would I like to order another issue or have a refund. I replied back that day that I would like a refund and are still waiting for it, two months later. Is this normal!? Just to add insult to injury (after I bought one off ebay) I saw the issue was on saw at the CF stand at the show at Santa Pod!

west midlands meet * 14th June * Details on pg 2

Really nice escorts there! Would have joined you but was at the download festival. Determined to get one of my escorts on the road this year, collecting together a lot of parts from various sources. See you at the next meet. -
I've got the front part of the exhaust on my scoob wrapped as it keeps the exhaust gasses hotter and the under bonnet temps down, hotter gasses flow quicker and cooler air going into the engine gives more power. Same can be applied to NA engines, best to keep it cooler under the bonnet. Also why induction kits with forced cold air work better. Soak the wrap in water to make it easier to bend, fit to the manifold and secure with stainless steel ties/wire, bake it in the oven (while the wife is out!) at a low temp to dry it out and set the wrap, then give it a few light coats of high temp paint to keep the moisture out. I've got it on a cast section (the headers) and the up and down pipe and no problems with cracking.

I sent Ford an email saying exactly that (quoted the beetle, mini and fiat 500) about a month or so back via Ford's website but haven't heard anything back. I assume the guy who did the designs sent them in. Old skool styling with modern components underneath would be a winning combination. Looks great, I'd buy one even if it was £20k (would have to go quick though at that price though)

MIDLANDS MEET NOW 24TH AUGUST SUNDAY (DATE CHANGE)

Was great chatting to you guys, thought the cars were excellent, inspired me to pop around to my folks on the way back home and take the tarp off the mk1 (after having a beer and some food at the pub which was nice!) I've put a thread up in the projects section with photos: http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=853092#853092 Comments guys, what do you think I should do!? p.s. Paul, remember to post up the dynamo to alternator wiring mod please p.p.s. Chris watch what you are saying about scoobs! Fitting a boost gauge is an hour tops, I've got a lamco column mounted one on mine. I did take the scoob to Powerstation to get it 4-wheel laser aligned and they had loads of photos up of an old mk1 with TARMAC arches on it (different!) - I said I had one of those and he replied, so what are you doing with a scoob then!! -
Just got off the phone from John, he is still going, working from four ashes industrial estate. He says he cannot do dynamic balancing (WTF? going over my head now!) but can balance the pistons and rods himself. The crank he would use a guy he knows that is a specialist in the field and then went on to explain about V6's being different than straight 6's and piston weights and rod weights when he lost me again! If your engine is an Essex he would need the crank pulley and flywheel to balance the crank as it is externally balanced (understood that bit) so lightening the flywheel cannot be done 'willy nilly' (his phrase!) He's a top bloke, can talk for England but don't expect him to be the cheapest, he is a specialist after all. If you want the job doing it would be advisable to do it sooner rather than later as he has another customer that needs a crank balancing in the next few weeks and it would work out cheaper if he did yours at the same time. John Wade Engineering tel: 01902 798303 tell him Dave Bolton sent you!

I'd look for another 'scort and cut the whole of the inner arch out, did that with mine and upgraded from the bar to turreted dampers at the same time. Any rot will be easy to repair with the inner off the car Use card rather than paper, if it flexes too much your template won't be that accurate (speaking from experience!)

Front disks make a vast difference, I had drums all round on my mk1 when I first had it - they weren't on for long! Fitted capri struts and think I changed the steering arms also, fitted a single system servo also Been reading your posts on the projects (? about 30 pages) section, car looks great!

If you're from Cannock, have you heard of John Wade Engineering? He did a lot of work on my mex spec xflow years ago but specialised on working on essex V6's He was working out of his home in Baswich, Stafford when I used him though last I heard he had an industrial unit in penkridge somewhere Tried to google his name but it came up with nothing. I might still have his number and could ask him where he gets his balancing done if you get stuck

Is this still going on? Would be good look at some escorts close up and chat to you all. Need some contact details for panels, haven't bought any in over ten years, the local bodyshop I used to go to closed down a few years back. Will be in the scoob and park a few spaces away! -
Nice pics, was surprised how many mk2 'scorts there were with x-packs on them (got one myself)

Haven't got a ford on the road at the mo but would still like to come along, will keep an eye on this thread. Could make either week. p.s. nice mk1, nearly bought one in blue with bubble arches as my first car and then ended up buying a POC mk2 as it was £150 cheaper and it was all I could afford (on YTS £35 / week apprenticeship pittance!). Was nearly 20 years ago! -
thanks for the welcomes guys / gals, loads of replies! Really want to get the welder out and start cracking, just wondering what the neighbours would say if I brought it around here and worked on it on the drive (garage is too small)... Now if I can just get the upstairs toilet plumbed back in (it's been missing for over a year - don't worry we have one downstairs, it's just a bit of a trek in the middle of the night!) my missus might allow me a little time to work on one of my many other 'projects'!

Well this is the first Ford forum I have posted on, up till now it has mainly been subaru sites (my daily run around). You have some nice cars in the club, we saw a selection of them at silverstone today at Ford Fair, the mk3 'tina with cossie engine caught my eye for one! I've had five escorts and still have a mk1 mex replica and a mk2 with flat-front X-pack and 4-link kit. Both cars were partially restored then we bought a house, got married, bought another house, had a daughter, etc. so the escorts have been put on a back burner and I haven't touched them for the last ten years. Both are stored outside, one the mk2 is exposed to the elements the mk1 is under a tarpaulin so they are both in a sorry state. I still want to get them both returned to their former glory and are hoping to get our garage extended to double width and get one of them stripped down and restored properly. Going to Ford events just makes me want to get an escort back on the road, they are just so much more fun than 4WD! Loved that white mk1 van also that was going sideways around farm every lap!
