  1. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so mods please feel free to move if appropriate. I thought I'd share a few photos I've taken recently of Oldskool Fords - these are all from the Plains rally. There's a video too if anyone's interested I'll post it. The winners of the 2wd category - Boyd Kershaw and Bryan Hull... If you build a replica works car, surely it HAS to be this one... And a couple of others... And a recent trip to M-Sport threw up a couple of pics that I thought might get some mouths watering on here... I'm out and about at all the BTRDA rallies this year, and some others so I might update this as and when I get anything interesting. Paul
  2. Due to work I don't manage to get to any of the national shows, but I did get the car along to a local classic car night on Wednesday - couple of other members from here too which was cool! Few pics, why not... This one turned up on Retards Club! And this Mex really caught my attention - absolutely stunning. Car of the show for me...
  3. Hi guys As my other thread disappeared without trace, just putting another one up about this event. I'm not part of the organising club but I'm going along in my Escort and I know of at least one other oldskool Ford too, it's free and you don't need to be a member of any clubs. I went last year and it was a very good little show, nice and relaxed with some very smart and interesting cars on display. It's at the Triton Inn, Brantingham from 6 - 9.30 tonight. Hope to see some of you there - I'll be in the bright orange Mk2 Escort if you do go come and say hi Cheers Paul
  4. Agreed about the coupe - absolutely stunning! Like a cross between a Mk2 Capri and a Starsky and Hutch Torino!
  5. Looks lovely! Where is the speaker / speakers mounted for the radio? Cheers Paul
  6. Looks lovely and straight body-wise, almost a shame not to paint it with something shiny! I love the Isle of Man
  7. Quickshift ordered, oil at the ready - thanks to Neil for the heads up
  8. Not sure she'd go for that lol! Cheers guys, Paul
  9. Any idea which quickshift kit to buy? From this I guess I'll need a 13.7mm spacer? http://rsmotorsport.com.au/files/Type9toMk2.pdf Any links to the one that's best would be much appreciated. Cheers Paul
  10. Thanks Neil - that's what I've been recommended by Andy Beaumont (if you know him? From near us) too but with his being a Mk1 RS2000 and tuned I thought it might be different to mine being out of a Sierra and standard. I've also read (through a search) various things about 20/50 being bad for the Pinto, causing the oil ways to gunk up and the camshaft to fail? Ford and Halfords recommend 5w30 FFS!
  11. Hi all I've been around a fair time on here, and having rallied a Mk2 Cortina a few years ago I've always been a classic Ford fan, but always wanted a Mk2 Escort. I work at rallies to so end up getting them pushed under my nose far too often to refuse lol! So I thought I'd post up my new Escort - it's a '78 Ghia fitted with a 2ltr pinto and 5 speed Type 9 gearbox. Few other nice bits such as Pincess calipers etc. Got a couple of things to resolve, such as the gearstick touching the handbrake lever in second due to the position of the gearbox (anyone got any ideas besides a cut and shut job on the handbrake lever?). But aside from that, it needs absolutely nothing. Oh, and if anyone can give me a definitive answer on what grade oil to put in a pinto out of a 1989 Sierra that burns a slight bit of oil but is in very good shape, I'd really appreciate it - can only find conflicting advice in searches?! The car was fully restored about 5 years ago by a guy local to me, and hasn't seen a wet road since. It's been kept quite subtle, and true to its roots as you can see. I intend to keep it that way. A 'few' photos if you're interested... Thanks for looking, and thank you in advance for any advice you can give me for the two issues I mentioned above Cheers Paul
  12. Thanks for the advice - trouble is I don't think they do the Ecsta in 13" I love Yokos and have a set of A048s I'm either selling or keeping for track days. Sadly I can't use them here though. Anyone know if the Yoko A008 are available in 13"?
  13. Hi guys Could you please take a look at this thread: http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... hp?t=67881 I'm looking for advice on what 13" tyre to use for the road modified sprint class and I know a lot of you run 13" on Escy's etc. I've included a copy of the tyre list there also, things like Yokohama A048s and Toyo R888s are not permitted Cheers Paul
