Yes it is a x flow, a mexico mk1 and it has the 3 rail 2000e box on it, do you know what is the correct clutch/release bearing then mate? as i only have this "wrong" one to go by. cheers
-
Hi all just a quick one, i recently removed my clutch and found that the clutch had been hitting the flywheel bolts? the clutch "springs" are scored and the heads of the 6 bolts that hold the flywheel on are also scored where contact has been made any ideas? Cheers

Hi just a quickie out of interest, i have a Mk1 Escort Mexico with 1600 x flow on 40s, standard gt cam, ported/polished head etc etc dyned at 120bhp.....she runs standard 2000e 3 rail box....and i believe standard diff??? 3.89??? maybe.... My question is this.....what speeds do you people drive at in similar x flows....ie motorway etc etc i find that 55-65 is ideal as at 70mph she is revving quite high (obviously 4 th gear) around 4200 to 4500 rpms. I find the car a nightmare on the motorways and pure heaven on the a-b roads......... I am not complaining nor unhappy just wondered what other peeps also do/find in these situations....... am i alone lol Regards Lee

rudel replied to rudel's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Hope to sort your car out for you mate, we also want to build a portfolio of OSFs aswell as the VWs we do at present, hope to see some of you soon Regards Lee -
Hi i hope i am allowed to post this here, basically i have joined a bodyshop and am offering all OSF peeps the chance of getting their car painted or repaired at a very reasonable price, the service we will offer will include as standard very high paint repairs and fabricating etc also your car will be respected and not drove etc (i hate leaving my car for 2 mins anywhere) also the car will be locked in a new unit with very high security. All osf people will get preferential rates, and are welcome to come view the premises and their car at any time they want. We also offer the oppertinity to store your car long or short term (and work on it yourselves) at a cheap rate. The chap that ownes the company has 10 years bodywork experience and is fantastic at his job, we have a recovery transit van and can collect and redeliver cars at fuel costs. I hope this post is not against rules for this site, we are yes trying to get some business but also offering very cheap rates for the OSF community, if there is an admin for this type of thing please contact me as i would like to enquire about advertising on this site and also banners etc etc. Please see our web site on the pics attached Best regards Lee

To preserve rubber, what can you 'treat' it with?
rudel replied to GJUK's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Sounds daft but i use beeswax has always worked for me, get some rub it on (smears badly) then keep "working it in" and once cleaned seems to do the trick my rubbers have not changed in years so somthing must be happeneing lol regards -
Has anyone here ever painted their block while engine is still in the car? i have removed the gearbox and had it rebuilt and want to freshen the block too....or would it be easier to pull the engine out and paint it and fit the box and engine together then reistall them as one item??? Worried about fitting the complete lot and damaging the slam panel and inner wings etc Any ideas guys and gals??? PS it is a mk1 Escort Mex Cheers
-
I too agree, makes no sense at all i also think the mk2 fiesta is also exempt for no reason in my opinion and that is it all it is is my opinion before i get attacked...
-
Had the same problem albiet with a crossflow, easiest way is lower the engine while still on the crossmember ie lower the crossmember with the engine still attached (easy really just get longer crossmember bolts) then you get a few more inches to "jiggle" shit if you follow lol Hope you get it in whatever route you take, where are you located if you can get the car to me i have a workshop pit and will help you out (much easier when you are under the car with 2 of you sliding it in) regards
-
Meet looked good let me know when there is another bud ill come along..... Cheers
-
Hi all , a quick question as i am changing my crossmember tommorow back to a standard Mex one, i have the correct "round mounts" and the mount brackets but one bracket is shorter than the other?? which side does the shorter one go to? ie if i was looking into the engine bay from the front of the car many thanks Lee
