  1. Just got this last week too. Now I have the Ford owner's ACE. Anglia. Cortina. Escort
  2. It's a life long car for me, never letting it go.
  3. I call my car Winston, for Winston Ingram off of 'Still Game' as the character had a prosthetic leg which is similar to my car's color other than the painted toe nails That picture was taken during the summer which was very dry, since November we have had loads of rain and I have had to trim my yard 4 times so far in the dead of winter! It is a nice change from the usual yellow dead plants that usually covers the region.
  4. I love the look and spec of your car! I saw it in the magazines and on picture searches for MK1 Estates and makes me want to modify mine more. I won't have to paint my car for a while, but when it needs paint I am thinking of orange or Olympic blue.
  5. It is tan, hearing aid tan. Not sure the name, I'd have to see if the color is called out on the chassis tag.
  6. Many folks have no clue as to what an Escort is other than the ones that were here in 1984 till the early 2000s. I do get the guess of a Cortina so at least in the region of Ford. Many that know the Escort love that it is here let alone an estate. I've won best rare car at a British car show so far. Most all folks have given love for the car and enjoy it at shows. Due to the popularity of Euro Fords here for vintage racing, there are some suppliers for Capri and Formula Ford parts. Some racing supply houses have stuff for the Kent and Pinto range of motors. Otherwise have to do shipping from Burton or MST etc... Helps I have a couple local friends who are heavy into Escorts , Anglias, Cortinas and Capris so I can buy some of their collected treasures. Wow, thanks for the link to the blast from the past. Sold that Squire and have gone through more Imps, Minis . Now I have added a '67 Sunbeam Stiletto , Mini estate and a Lancia Fulvia project to the mix.
  7. Long time member of the forum as I had wanted a Capri for the longest time. I had a few 1965 Mustangs in school and now are silly prices. I wanted a Capri for the longest time, but in 2024 I found a 1973 MK1 Capri then traded a Westfield Lotus 7 replica for a MK1 Escort estate. Since Escorts didn't come to the US till 1984 I never expected to own a MK1 Escort let a lone a fantastic estate. Through school until I could get my driving license I wanted an Anglia. There was a pair of 105e parked in a guy's side yard. I planned to try to buy one once I passed my driving test. I got to his house a week after I had my license and found that he sold the cars the week before! Forward to present day I now have a MK1 Escort estate and just procured a fantastic 1966 Anglia Deluxe project that has been off the road since 1972. The 1970 Escort was built in Genk, Belgium and sold new in Finland. It was brought into the US by the second owner and since passed through 4 other US owners till I got it. Original 1300 motor will be swapped for a 2.0 Pinto motor. I added four pot HiSpec calipers, Minilites and decals, otherwise it is stock. The '66 Anglia was built at Halewood in October of '66 with a 1200. I have a 1600GT motor I will put in it and contemplating Escort front suspension on it. I will lower it 2" and plan on VW Denim blue for the body and Fiat Celeste blue for the roof.
  8. Yes, it does bother me that the normal American mentality is to have a huge V8 in the small cars. The loud V8 becomes the car's only virtue. I want the car's design to be what stands out. I rather have a car that handles well and is more fun for me to drive in the canyons in a very spirited way.
  9. So, been into old cars for many years. I have owned many throughout the years; '65 Mustang Fastback, '65 Shelby GT350, '46 Ford Pickup, 6 Mini saloons. Had many others , however, now I own a 1967 Riley Elf, 1965 Sunbeam Imp and a 1957 Austin A35 as well as a 1957 Thunderbird. I have wanted a 105e Anglia for the longest time so while I was searching the online places to find one I was lucky enough to locate a 1955 101e Squire. I bought it on the spot. The Squire has the original engine and runs sweetly. It hadn't been on the road since 1964 in the dusty and dry desert of Southern California almost all it's life. She only has two bubbling rusty area on the lower front wings. Interior is faded, but still there. Seats are shot and the floor covering has long turned to dust. The exterior has been left largely alone with only one dented area on the rear valance. The wood strips mounted to the sides have dried up and will be removed all together. I found a 1500GT motor and 105e rear end for it. Will lower it a little and will add disc brakes. I plan on painting it in blue with a Terra-cotta colored leather interior.
