  1. Me to, I remember at the time. Being an old git, that there was a Russian space craft hanging about at the time. They must have been tracking it and I'm sure if they hadn't landed, the Russian's would have been happy to let the world know about it.
  2. If any of you guys out there are interested in the Anniversary of the Moon Landing 40 years ago. I was told about a great site, as link below. It has loads of info and a sort of live real time comm's feed from 40 years ago between NASA and Apollo 11. You can leave running in the back ground, at least when theres no static It's good hearing the tech stuff they were talking about, (if they aren't asleep) It should get more interesting in a day or two when the moon landing starts. http://www.wechoosethemoon.org Or am I just being a geek
  3. Arizona Gold. Here is another one just pulled out of a garage after a few years, Hybernation. I was told this was Arizona Gold. Do you thick it's the same as the Capri? Difficult to tell with different Digi Camera's

    MIG Power?

Cheers Mate Thanks for the input. I was just a bit worried that the welding and my lads stereo on together might take out the house 100 amp fuse

    MIG Power?

That helps alot thanks So your machine must be pulling less than 16 amp on use. That answers my concerns, Cheers. I haven't welded for a good few years, passed C & G in Gas & Arc for pipefitting, but worked mainly on maintenance since and any pipework I fit is usually small enough to thread. So it should be interesting to see if I can get back into the saddle so to speak Nice dog by the way. Yours or just random photo? Thank Again

    MIG Power?

Thanks. So does that run off a standard 3 pin plug top in a 30 Amp Ring Main? When you say "the amount of welding you do" I take it that a machine any bigger, the difference would be it could weld thicker metal over long periods?

    MIG Power?

Cheers But would that not need a 3 phase main supply? Which isn't possible from a domestic house. Or am I being thick

    MIG Power?

Hi Guys Sorry in advance if this is a numpty question. But what Power/Amps do you need to run a MIG welder in a domestic garage. One that would be good enough to do decent enough bodywork panels. I've done Gas and Arc Welding before, all be it a long time ago. But never MIG welded and I'll need to learn/practice. At the moment I know next to nothing about the kit or how much to pay? But I'm also concerned, that when I go to buy one and come to use it, I dont pop a fuse or two. Cheers Any advice would be really appreciated.
  9. Okay Guys Managed to clear all the rubble and junk from the front of the garage, after fixing the trailer. NOW SPOT THE ESCORT Cobwebs and All. First impresions, needs new front panel, suspension tops poss full as the rain gutters are shot, slam panel, sills, wheel well, Drivers door and at least one hole in the drivers side floor. One of the wheel arches is suprisingly good, the other not so and god knows what else when I start stripping the wings off and lifting the carpet. I think this will def' be a slow burn project. Especially seeing as I need to learn to weld again Been off the road for longer than I thought. Last tax disk says 1993
  10. Thanks for your kind Welcome everyone. I hope I'll be able to ask your advice, when I dig out the "E" O and PS "4parajon" I'll keep an eye open for your Red Capri. I once had a Mk1 3 ltr in Black, could catch pigeons in it. Where abouts are you?
  11. Hi Guys I just thought to introduce myself. I'm a bit of an old git now. But I revived a few Mk2 Cortina's in the late seventies when I was a lad. Including a couple of 1600E's. Not done a lot since I'm afraid. Slipped into the company van/car stage of my life. Anyway I bought an Escort 1300E around 15 years ago, for the wife to use (honest) I'd always fancied one when they were new. But couldn't afford one, I intended to do some work on it. Unfortunately it failed the MOT around the time we were moving, It wanted some serious welding in the engine bay. So during the move it went straight into the garage of the new home. 11 years later I'm plunking up the courage to pull it out from under the carpet that went on top of it and see how much more work needs doing. I want to keep it as near to origonal spec as poss. I have to admit seeing some of the fantastic sporty escorts on here has made me think. But that will have to wait for project number 2 Cheers Gary
