Hi, do you not think there was some great racing, you cannot beat the sound of the old cars, I drive the Status Quo mk1 escort pace car and as you say there are some other very nice cars there. And as for the point of them, the formula is 100% charity based all prize money and any collection money all goes to charity. Thanks Mate, I am now the official pace car for the classic hot rods dont look like i will be able to make Birmingham but I do aim to be at as many meetings as possible. Unfortunatly back in 1974 not enough pics were taken of the original car dont want to make that mistake again, so if anyone has any pics of the car from last night at wimbo which they would like to send me via e-mail I would be very grateful. Also does anyone know who done the video last night as by the time i showed my dad how to use the camera we only managed to get the final so would like to get a copy. Cheers Dean Vale 139

Thanks Al, It was the first time I had met the classic hot rod boys, up until now I have only spoken to a couple on the phone, All I can say is what a fantastic bunch! I was told I could be the pace car if i had a helmet and overalls which i did not have but within about 30 secs they appeared on loan from the drivers, MANY THANKS LADS!!!! Looks like classic hot rods are appearing at arena essex raceway along with a few more formulas: Sunday, August 26th Outlaw Hot Rods British Open Championship / 1300 Stock Cars / Lightning Rods / Classic Hot Rods I will also be taking my Status Quo Mk1 escort to the meeting would be great to see you there. I am also taking the car to arena on the 11th August which is a saturday evening meeting 6.30pm start I must point out that my car is a road legal replica and therefore will not be racing but she will be in the pits for you to see and hopefully i will be allowed to pull a couple of laps. If you have not got your tyres yet khumo do a 235/50x13 but only in a v70a which is a road legal track tyre and you will not get a lot of life from them, I changed mine to 215/50x13 v732 Khumos which are a high performance road tyre and at about £45 each cant complain about price either good luck, love the car!! Can anybody help I have just had a clear out in my loft and I have found my old log book, ALL previous MOT's and chassis plates for a mk2 escort which i raced in the 90's can anything be done with them it was a german car man in 1977 but reg in 1981 and has a chassis no begining with GCATT. Seems a shame to see them go to waste Regards Dean

ok she is back, she is black, and she is starting to look very mean even if she is sitting a bit like a monster truck, get stuck in with the suspension soon get her sitting on the deck!!!! many thanks for all the support given to me by various people (you know who you are) building a car like this on a budget like mine is not an easy task, but it is made a little easier by people who have been willing to help, some of which I had never met before!!
