  1. Quality find for that much money mate. Don`t shrug off the c20xe they are a cosworth designed head with a bullet proof bottom end. Look how many of the rally boys are running them and they are proper cheap £200 - £300 and readily available. you can pick up spare heads at £20 - £40 ideal for a bit of home brew porting. 180bhp is easy to get from them, for little money. and on std injection systems! Good luck wot ever you choice. as long as there is a mk2 in between you and the road you`ll always be smiling
  2. Was a good day weather was great which is always a bonus. Any one see the four door escort and toyota starlet entertaining the crowd drifting round the S`s just before the start finsh line. AWESOME best track action I saw.
  3. My first car was a 1.3L two door mk2 escort bought at 18 from a local scrap yard for £150. that came with lotus steels, bog and rust. That got repanelled and resprayed, in rediant red by one of my work m8`s (He had load of 2e`s in his time and told count less tales of following road rallys etc etc etc. think he just wanted the chance get way from his wife and mint up an escort.). Looked the dogs when finished. On yellow 4 spoke revolutions with hand polished dish on about 5" of lowering blocks at the back with bilstein shocks and 2.8i bilstein 2" lowered at the front. I was well pleased with it. Till I killed the engine. 1.3 in the bin, 1.6 xflow time. got that from ian harwoods in ellsmere port if any one remembers them. come out of a auto with 70.000 on the clock it went like fook on the 1.3 box and 1.3diff. it would drift in 2nd and hammer all my m8`s XR`s. It would eat 1.3 gear boxs but they were cheap and wot was better than messing round all weekend fixing the car for the week night looney sessions. Then it met a kerb sideways whilst showing a 1.9 205gti how 2 corner (not so well as it turned out!). The chasis at rear was about 3" out of line after that. snapped half shaft, buckled/folded wheel even with the new axle pushed all the way over to limits you could not get a alloy under the opposite back arch!! So stupid me scrapped it. I still kick myself that I never got it rejigged stupid boy! Anyway I started looking for a new shell as I had kept every thing from the last car every nut bolt (not the doors thou, again stupid boy). My mate gave me a copy of motoring news open on the back page in the adverts section with a big biro mark round "GROUP 4 SHELL, FOREST ARCHES, ROLL CAGE, GUSSETED, SEAM WELDED, 5 LINKED, FIBRE GLASS BOOT AND BONNET". That was it I had to have it. This was 10 years ago but you wouldn`t believe how much it was £800. I cannot believe how much they are now unreal! Anyway Every thing went in the new shell plus countless other stuff like princess 4 pots, stage 2 head from burton, twin weber 40`s, bucket seats, Ashley full race exhaust 4 into 1 2.5" system. 5 speed tranx box. WOW the handling was unreal. Infact it handled too well for the power (lack of power more like). That was awesome for the two years I ran it on the road every day for work and PLEASURE! then the need for a repanel and general sort out of the car came to a head so she came off the road. that was 7 years ago. quickly the need for a house of my own killed the rebuild stone dead. So she sat for 6 years in various lock ups, massive chicken sheds you name it. It`s seen it. Met some great people through the various storage places. A guy with 1.3 190bhp all steel x flow hill climb anglia, all linked up serious bit of kit. Any way rambling abit. So till last march she collected dust, surface rust and looked really sorry for her self. All it took was a birthday present of a day at a rally school, Bill Gmynne in there mk2 escorts and an absolute star of a instructor. A kiwi been in th jwrc a couple of times and was in england promoting himself where he could, driving in the european drfit championships and time attack at that time. He was laughing his head off all the way round at the end as we were pushing the car so hard and going hugely sideways every where. WOT A LAUGH best day i have had years. So got home and had to do some thing to get my own back on the road and track. So straight on ebay a got a roll over jig. and started cutting all the rust out of the shell:- Front floors Rear floors Centre chasis R & L Outer sills Inner sills Rear valance complete Wings r&l Front valance Doors R&L New skids front and centre chasis R&L Plus various holes So yes most of the car really. but there is no way I could afford a new shell so make do and mend. She is is almost there just a few little bits of welding to be done then she`ll be off the jig, couple of week fingers crossed then filler and rivet gun time. then paint.
  4. They are more fun when they are a little rough round the edges. Your more likely to give them a little stick with out worying about the bentley spec paint job. That will be my excuse when mines finished.

  9. Hello just a quick intro. My m8 pointed me to the old skool ford website. I`m a 100% addicted, sideways, first car a 1.3l two door escort bought from a scrap yard. always on ebay looking at mk2 escort bits, Group 4 shell been welded up over the last year typical member. Got a couple of pics as she is now. Still loads to do but fingers crossed next year she`ll be out running an c20xe, 5 speed straight cut tranx box, coat of paint! Not concours but ready for some hammer.
