  1. let me rephrase the question, I have no idea on the values, a google search just confuses the matter with prices ranging from 5k-15k on facelift models, so If you were to go out and buy this car, what would you expect to pay?
  2. As above really, I'm hoping this is the right place to ask for some advice as far as what figure to give for an insurance valuation, looking online I see that the prices have climbed recently but the variation between them, the lack of pre-facelift cars and the lack of autos for sale is making it hard for me to judge. The car is a 69 capri 1600 gt xlr auto with 44k miles, it cost me nothing to buy as it was family owned from new and rusty when I aquired it at 15, roll on 20 years and its just had a full on restoration, all rot chopped out and lead loading where needed rather than plastic filler. The resoration has been a quality job by someone that works on classics including a lot of porsche and ferrari cars, it hasnt been cheap or quick and has taken over a year to complete. Everything is original as it was delivered on the day of sale (minus the wing mounted mirrors) as seen here. http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/ipb/index.php?/topic/77325-mk1-capri-1969-1600-auto-gt-xlr/page-2 I'm guessing I will have to go through one of the clubs for a definite valuation but looking for some rough ideas so I can start collecting some quotes in. Thanks in advance.
  3. Bit of a late one now but reading through and just thought I would add to this thread. unfortunately even the gps trackers nowadays are pretty much redundant, all well and good apart from the fact that they are being fitted to more and more desirable cars so the crooks just carry a jammer. the gps has to transmit data somehow but until they find the tag the signal is jammed :/. Old cars don't have enough wires to rig in a decent alarm, if they are nicking old cars they also know this and carry a few lengths of wire with clips to get around any immobiliser. kill switches and removing rotor arms may help, but again, easy to bridge out and the rotor arm is an old trick so determined crooks that steal to order carry a spare with them. with my project nearing completion security is a subject that has been bugging me :/ I guess it comes down to making it as hard as possible and making it take time, failing that rig the tank with C4
  4. last call and hope for an o/s wing, its the final piece of the puzzle before she goes in the spray booth, failing finding one its going to be a costly removal/rebuild of the non original, original which is going to require a fair amount of skill and work :/
