  1. Hi. I had my mk2 escort cosworth (2 door) stolen in January from my lockup. It was in excellent condition, on the road, with standard cosworth running gear, lowered on adjustable coilovers, cage, bucket seats, stripped out. My insurance company wants proof of its value, and i cannot find a recent advert anywhere to prove how much a mk2 escort cosworth it is worth. I valued it at 10k which is not excessive, considering how much it would cost to build, and this tends to be the going rate of a half decent one, and I basically want to replace what i have lost. What do you value them at? I will be sending a copy of this thread to my insurance company towards my proof of its value. Any recent adverts would be appreciated! Thanks
  2. would this be 9" 13's or 15'S? cheers for the info by the way... I take it this is the rears...will the fronts have to be narrower or do the arches proturude the same front and back?
  3. Tthanks...are you reffering to the monte carlos or normal tarmac arches?
  4. Ok...so if i went for monte carlo or plain tarmac arches with 15's and low slung, I assume i need the 15" tubs as suggested, but would i need a full length atlas axle to bring the rears out? or is it a case of wide wheels on the standard length item? What width wheels would i need to buy in both scenarios? and can i do all this with the standard lowered leaf spring setup? SERIOUSLY looking into doing this now whilst the car is a bare shell... cheers!
  5. I want to arch my escort. I know what i want but cant find a difinitive answer on what they are called. I think they are either tarmac or monte carlo but everywhere i look i see different versions! Basically i want it REALLY LOW and wide, wide 15" wheels, arches must come above the swage line....and is it possible to get this look without tubing and turreting i.e just lowering what you have already as standard (i have adjustable coilovers on the front) Any pictures and comments would help a lot!
  6. cebora 130 turbo. Snap on rebadge these but cebora are THE brand when it comes to welders. My 130 welds anything you will ever need to on a car, can pick them up for £150 second hand. You really do get what you pay for
  7. A friend is after a 4 speed box for santapod, but does not understand the ratios. Hes seen this for sale - is it suitable? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Quaife-Rocket-gea ... 35a9b50fe5
  8. does this effect the way a electrical tester would have to work? when i was testing cables which i thought were earths today, I found i had to clip the live part of the tester on to the earth cable, and touch the body to get a reading...so is the car postive or negative earth? thanks
  9. As title, can anyone explain in simple terms what exactly is meant by negative earth? thanks
  10. like it - what profile are these 175/50 i guess?
  11. My lockup is 2 miles from my house, rented from the council. I cant seem to get any cover for it (i got 5k worth opf tools in there and have already been burgled once ) My house insurance wont cover it because it is not 'in the boudaries ' Any advice? cheers
  12. max power and mad max meets osf lol was this on eBay not long ago?
  13. Everyone has them for a reason - they look pukka
  14. simon he wants it 2.2 fully forged now...open cheque book lol
  15. No he wants a stacey sticker
  16. what spec is your car exactly?
  17. head done by vulcan engineering. Was just refered to as a stage 3 head. just wondered what sort of 1/4 mile times people can expect with this spec
  18. Ive got an engine build in process: 2.1 pinto (standard crank, rods, mahle pistons) stage 3 head twin 48's lightened flywheel are ported and polished etc What power would you expect? 1/4 mile times? how will it drive? fuel consumption? it is spiralling out of control!!
  19. After some parts to build a forged pinto on 45's - anyone know the quality/strength/reliabilty of wiseco forged slipper pistons?
  20. so by that equation 175/50 have a sidewall depth of 87.5 165/55 = 90.75, so basically will look the same as there is only a few mm in it and both will have the slight stretch...
  21. oh right cheers for that i just assumed the middle number was the depth of the tyre in mm's
  22. I like the look of 175/50/13 on 7j wheels, but i have rs2000 wheels (6j ?) and obviously these tyres look slighlty higher profile on these as there is less 'stretch'. I found some tyres 165/55/13 - do you think they would give the lower profile look due to the stretch? or would the fact they have a 5mm deeper wall defeat this? any one had any experiences/ pics?
  23. lol! what exactly is tubbing? what is the common width on modified old fords - 7J? 8J?
  24. I think i know the answer...but does any / how much modifications have to be made to a mk2 escort to rit 10inch rears at the back, 9 at the front? i think it looks wicked!
