  1. Hope to be there - but healthis an issue (mine not the Falcon)
  2. There is always a lot of emotion when choices like this are debated, no-one is right and no-one is wrong. But when the majority speaks then that is he democratic answer. All posts are thus individual personal feelings. For me an Old Skool Ford and yes I'm a 62 year old Old Ford owner and yes it is a yank - the only Old Skool Yank on here?? - Old Skool enough to be in the Calendar (April Page), oh and I want a hot Anglia now as well... But I thought some more about this and realised an Old Skool ford for me is simply: Rear Wheel Drive Volume Production Cars Simplicity Nut and Bolt Upgrade to high performance Design - they look different and are recognizable distinctive shapes Maintainable Still available at reasonable prices (well with exceptions) Very competitve racing in the day There is nothing to stop the more modern Front Wheel Drivers from forming New Skool Ford is there........ Tony
  3. Time to get a little more realistic I guess. Rather than try and match the sixties grid specifically. So I have the Falcon Sprint (its in this years calendar as well)we can get a Mustang. So Anglia's, Cortina Mk1/2 (non Lotus) Mk1 Escorts not necessarily RS's or Twin Cams all welcome. Lets have some good Old Skool Cars. You don't have to do both days. It is a fun event you are close to the action. The paddock is fully open to wander around. There are other club displays and you and a passenger get in for free(that's £20 saved). Catering on site as well. Tony
  4. To me Old Skool is rear wheel drive. So I think the vote categories are a bit odd. I have no objection to Sierras or Grandads being Old Skool, but definitely no wrong wheel drive Festers of Mk3 on Esnots. Tony
  5. Anyone for an Old Skool Ford club stand at Crystal Palace Motorsport in the Park 26th 27th May 2013? It is an excellent event and if you are booked in for a club stand you get in for FREE. Each club stand has an area for 5 cars and a 3x3m gazebo so max number is 5 cars per day. Different cars each day is perfect that is really the way it should work so it gives 10 members of the club the chance to attend. So perhaps we could recreate a starting grid of 1967 / 1968 when the British Saloon Car Championship held a round at Crystal Palace when it was a proper racing circuit. That would be Anglia, Cortina Mk1 or 2, Escort Mk1, Falcon and Mustang Coupe / Notchback. Preferably ones with no body mods (apart from the Mk1 Escort which raced with bubble arches). Ideally a maroon Anglia (the Broadspeed colour) and Lotus Cortinas and a red and gold Alan Mann tribute Mk1 Escort, but that would just be a dream!! This post is to judge whether there is sufficient interest. Some details of what you would be commuting to: Entrance to park from 07.30am All exhibitors to be in place and ready for the public from 08.30am Stay until the competitive event has finished. First sprint practice starts 9.00am Full details http://motorsportatthepalace.co.uk/ Entry for one show car to include driver and one passenger is free. Additional tickets are £10.00 per person per day or £8.00 in advance cheque made payable to Motorsport At The Palace LTD The organizers are collecting on behalf of St Christopher’s Hospice and Royal London Society for the Blind if you would like to donate to these charities. All forms to be returned by 03/05/2013. Successful applicants will be advised of their entry by email, tickets and detailed instructions will be posted 1 week prior to the event. Tony Penn
  6. A sad day - http://www.classicandsportscar.com/news ... -mann-dies Bet there will be lots of red and Gold flowers at the funeral. Tony
  7. I have an American Mk1 RS1600 Vintage Racer thats on the search for a stock steel bonnet for a Mk1 Escort. He went out for a vintage racing session recently without making sure the bonnet pins were properly installed. The result is posted on YouTube.com at He’d rather not go to a fiberglass bonnet, since the car is relatively complete and perfect in most other aspects. Can anyone help or suggest a possible source? I know that shipping costs will be a bit high, but he is willing to pay well for an intact bonnet. Any ideas? contact Don direct or via me. Thanks, Tony Don Gwynne 001-817-925-3904, dgwynne3@tx.rr.com
  8. Just to say hi - after years without an Anglia (big engined - or Oval Track Racer) or Escort Mexico / RS2000 I've come back to Old Fords. Except I've gone American with a 1964 Falocn Sprint. Thats because I'm old enough to have seen them racing and winning in the sixties and I've always wanted one. Tony Penn
