Hi everyone, I've joined after google pointed me in your direction I'm hoping to find some advice about a Mk2 Escort 1.6 Ghia that we've had in the garage for the last 21 years; I've attached a photo showing it after a quick wash. I'll have a good look around the forum and will post a new topic once I've done a bit of homework and got some more information together cheers, Vincent

1979 Cortina Mk4 2.0 Ghia Estate MOT until 25th October 2014 Now Taxed until 30th October 2014 Only 3 previous owners 4 speed manual Jupiter Red over Strato Silver, Cream interior and vinyl roof Very original overall condition Original Radio Mileage very low for the age at 52,000 (will change as this is my daily) Ziebart rustproofed from new - never welded - doesnt need any welding - solid underneath. At the recent MOT the tester was amazed how solid everything was but he did add one advisory for slight corrosion (nearside front chassis rail) but this was very very minor Everything electrical works. Interior in great condition Headlining mint Vinyl roof mint Runs great and very comfortable (the car and I have done several several hundred mile journeys with ease – even going on the Classic Ford tour to France last year which was about 650 miles over the weekend) Has had the following done in the last year ish: All rear suspension bushes changed for new Polybushes New rear springs New rear shocks New brake cylinders & shoes New front suspension top & bottom bushes New rollbar drop links 1 new brake caliper New brake master cylinder. Replacement refurbished 32/36 Webber carb New alternator New coil Refurbished (improved over standard black) Bosch Distributer New points and coil New NGK plugs. New Leads Oil/Air/Fuel filters changed. Classic 20/50 oil used. New performance air filter New antifreeze. New wipers all round. New battery. Only things that let it down is the paint (Laquer peel has spoiled the finish, rattle can laquer and kurust applied to stop the weather getting at it) & the bumper chrome isnt brilliant. I had a few issue with the carb but all sorted now (replacement fitted). Pulls very slightly to the left (meant to buy front Polybush set but haven’t got round to it) and lets a bit of rain in when it’s bad weather (passenger footwell) Not too bad at all for a 34 year old Alloys fitted in pics on (Capri 6j X 13 with 185/70 tyres) are going on my next car but I could be persuaded to leave them on at extra cost It’s up for sale on it’s original steels (with the chrome embellishers) I would have taken pics with those on but I got a rare moment of sunshine so we rushed out to take some photos in the park! I’ll be taking the modern head unit out and replacing the original radio too It’s been a pleasure to own this car for the last year and a bit, I’d be keeping hold of it but the wife must be obeyed (she wants a Sierra so all is not lost!) but it’s up for sale It's in South London Offers around £1500 ono I have put another 6 months tax on it taking it up to end of October (like the MOT) Will keep the asking price at 1500 though

Hi, Just joined, I have a 1982 Cortina MK5 2.0 Ghia auto, with power steering, 83,000 on the clock, I use it as a daily driver, it is a standard car apart from Rostyles wheels, I have owned it since May 2012, bought in Surrey. Look forward to attending some meets, particularly Boxhill as its just down the road from where I work in Leatherhead.
