When I try and get the back end out on pull away from time to time (usually off the driveway) the rear wheels tend to lock and judder quite a bit. Any reason for this, bad technique maybe??!! On corners and roundabouts I have no problem. Any pointers appreciated. Cheers.

Jack the car up so both rear wheels are of the floor

Then put car in neutral turn the rear wheel if the other turns the other way then you dont have an LSD...

Excuse my ignorance what is tramping?

Tramping is when the axle tries to twist (winding the spring) which then springs back.

That reads poorly Here is a proper definition:

A form of wheel hop that occurs on cars with live axles, caused by the axle repeatedly rotating slightly with the wheels and then springing back.

How do you sort it?

Antitramp bars as a starting point. These are mounted from the axle to the body. May I suggest that someone like Retro will be able to give a better description.
