Mark2Mark Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 It's not just the engine though it's the mounts, gearbox, induction, exhaust, if you can't get these bits off the shelf it means a lot of fab work
bomber1 Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 driver is selling his 200 sx £900 all in. every thing u need to get ur escort running a jap lump.
antz Posted April 16, 2007 Author Report Posted April 16, 2007 yeh thats the problem. good job my uncle can weld and has the know-how of jap and fords its not a definate yet! it wont be for a while before i can even think of an engine upgrade! i just wnated peoples opinions or ideas of jap engined fords
Noodles Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I was just afriad of all the wiring for that sort of thing, the pinto was supposed to be easy but it put up a fight all the way
antz Posted April 16, 2007 Author Report Posted April 16, 2007 my car puts up a fight at every corner! nothign is ever simple
Mark2Mark Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 my car puts up a fight at every corner! nothign is ever simple That is why i would give serious consideration to an engine conversion, i don't want to see you take a good running escort off the road and 12 months down the line see it on ebay as a 95% finished project. But if you know people who can help and have a good knowledge of these things then go for it!
antz Posted April 16, 2007 Author Report Posted April 16, 2007 itll never be sold! when i say im gonna give up it means im having a bad day also im gathering as much info on it all as i can before i decide. im gonna speak with my uncle loads and rattle his brains before i decide on anything!
Noodles Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I would if I was you, you cant beat a twin cam
bmxdave Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Id say get an S2000 jobbie. But they spin the wrong way. The CA's have a bad reputation for not handling abuse too well. Id go 4 AGE. Tried, tested and bombproof. An RB26 would be nice though Ive always wanted to fit one to a mk2 cortina.
Mark2Mark Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I thought the S2000 revved the correct way?
bomber1 Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 didnt think it would matter what way the engine turned as ud have to use the jap box anyway?
Mark2Mark Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Yeah but would it not be the axle/diff that was the problem if it did turn the wrong way?
bomber1 Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 cant see y it would cos its the box that does the direction the diff just shares the power out ! tho im waiting to be corrected
