AngliaSuper Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 I have bought a 1500gt bored out +60 with a 1500gt head full race cam (which will be changed to a A2) lightened and balanced. I am after a fast road engine. I am on a limited budget. What's the best setup for my Anglia? Thanks Ollie
escort21 Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Stick a 32/36 carb off an escort on it, mild cam with that head should work nicely. Rolling road setup to get the best out of it...costs money but well worth it
GT_Jim Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 also get yourself down your local scrap yard and find a mk3/4 escort with an xflow and take the dizzy as it electronic and fits pre xflows i did it to mine only cost £20
AngliaSuper Posted May 8, 2007 Author Report Posted May 8, 2007 I am going to fit a twin cam dizzy. Not worth fitting twin carbs? Ollie
escort new boy Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 if you need a 32/36 i have two one on a crossflow manifold to
escort21 Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 You said cheap and twin carbs are expensive......
escort new boy Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 i no someone with a single 40 on a crossflow manifold (lynx)
Mk 1 Mark Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 i no someone with a single 40 on a crossflow manifold (lynx) i had a Single 40 on a derrinton manifold...on a pre cross flow works a treat and sounded really nice
escort21 Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 What i meant was..... I am on a limited budget Best to spend money on other aspects of the engine rather than go for the expense of twincarbs...
AngliaSuper Posted May 8, 2007 Author Report Posted May 8, 2007 I would'nt mind a single 40 but it's the manifoldthat i would struggle with i think. I already have a 28/36 carb/manifold.
GT_Jim Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 i no someone with a single 40 on a crossflow manifold (lynx) i had a Single 40 on a derrinton manifold...on a pre cross flow works a treat and sounded really nice where did you get the manifold as im quite interested as im going for a similar spec to angliasuper
escort21 Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Got my single 40 manifold from Bigkev on osf ...best to find them second hand...don't think anyone does new ones??

105Speed Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Only one problem, yours is for a Crossflow and they are fairly readily available made by the likes of Lynx & Peco Pre-Crossflow ones are very rare, the only ones I have / seen are the Derrington which I had on my Pre-Crossflow in my grey Saloon with a single 45 on it. And then there is a Lotus variant which puts the carb very close to the head which is really meant for the smaller 997/1200/1340 engines I have literally taken an order for my Derrington and the 45 today but do have the other one that I could be talked out of if the price was right. But to give you an idea, a Derrington Manifold on its own will fetch over £100 and the Lotus one, with Lotus on it will fetch upwards of £150 The one I have hasnt got the Lotus cast into it but I paid around £130 with a Weber 40 on it
105Speed Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Depending on Engine Spec then you may find the 28/36 is more driveable everyday carb giving lots of useable torque. The side draughts work better with lots of air speed.....
