Which top mounts?

I need to get some new top mounts do i go for?

 

RBTM - spherical bearing in a rubber mount

 

concentric - spherical bearing, solid alloy mount

 

eccentric - spherical bearing, adjustable camber/caster

 

are the bottom too gonna be too stiff and transmit the bumps into the shell?

 

i prob don't need the eccentric as i'll only set it once and leave italone after that

 

your thoughts please

i would say eccentric cos there easy to adjust then once you get them set up just leave them as they are

then any of the above but with the eccentric ones its easier to adjust to get the best feel e.g. more castor more camber . . . but its your choice ! and the eccentric ones are usually the most expensive

Where's the best & cheapest to get these from Tim to suit 2.8i struts?

think it burton or rally design do serviceable RBTM where u can chance the bearings,RACE proberly a good place to get em from

Thats what I fitted on my Capri. And they work OK

I have rubber roller tops as well...help a lot with stopping the bangs coming through the car..

Rubber mounted RTMs every time, you only really need solid RTMs if the car is used for competition, I have Solid RTMs and would change them for something with a bit of compliance if I could,, not only do solids make the ride harsh, you are forever tightening things up as they get rattled loose.

Camber can be altered by fitting adjustable TCAs, and if your car is not bent, castor should not be a problem

I've got rubber RTM's on my Escort...

 

Got 'em from Rally Design for about £150

 

They're all ya need for foad use as solid ones would be too harsh
