Word to the masses!

i hope everyone is well this evening!

ive got sweet F.A to do tonite so i thought id let EVERYONE know about my mk2 escort 4dr ghia thats been recieveing some TLC since last october after rusting away in my shed for 4 years!!!

 

So, back when i was 16 i bought this 1981 Mk2 Escort Ghia 4 Door, finished in red with a black vinyl roof, shed covered a fair old distance of 97,000 miles, but i was willing to forgive her seeing as she was just on 20!

 

So i handed over my £600 and returned with my car, which had a slippy clutch, a cracked diff bearing, a rocker gasket leak and a very VERY rusty front end!

 

So i drove it till it broke .....dont ask questions about me being 16 at the time.......lol

 

and then! after years of surfing classic ford magazines and burton power catalogues and reaming up the escort i really really wanted, last october i sent her off to a bodyshop to see what could be done to save her and after a quote of £1500 for a complete shell restore i thought F**CKIN BARGAIN! and so it begun!

 

so i got the panels we needed:

pair of front wings

front panel

slam panel

bonnet

boot

drivers door ( front )

passenger door ( rear )

well i went down to visit and discovered a racing mechanic ran a shop next door, so along came the mods :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

 

we decided in the end on:

 

1700 X-Flow block

Mahle Pistons

Lightened and Balanced Farndon Rods

Lightended and Balanced Bottom End

Hardened Big End Bolts

Lightened and Balanced Flywheel

Stage 3 ported and polished head with mexico valves

a Kent 244 cam kit and pulley

a set of sexy old twin weber 40 dcoe's

silver top competition fuel pump

fuel pressure regulator

big header alloy rad ( looks so PHIT )

 

type 9 5 speed

rs2000 prop

quaife atb differential

13 x 7 deep dish minilights

 

lowered 2 inches

capri 2.8i front struts and brakes

anti-tramp bars

anti-dive kit

 

inside we're going with a black ghia interior

with 2 OMP bucket seats in the front

along with an OMP steering wheel and gearknob

 

a mexico front spoiler

and a carbon fibre RS boot lip

and we ditched the square headlamps, went for round ones and a new grille

also lost the chrome strip down the side

keeping the chrome bumpers and window and gutter trim#

and the ghia badges

 

sorry but the strip down the side just looked so GASH!!!

 

NOT sure if i've left anything out of that! but i like it! its not nearly finished yet! needs the engine hoses putting on, the fuel tank putting back in, the red coat of paint, the vinyl roof, the front n rear spoilers and the interior! BUT we have all the parts and it looks like the finish lines only a few weeks away if some ppl get their arses in gear!

( the carbs have been put on but i havent been down 2 take a picture yet )

it has a quick rack!

and rs anti roll bars ( which were on it when i got it, along with rs2000 wing runners )

and an electronic ignition kit!
