Gazza Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 hi i have my own bodyshop in northampton area, and i am all up for people trying to do it themselves , you might be a natural .. but the prices are in equipment overheads etc . one thing every one seams to have overlooked is 2 pack paint is isocyanate (cyanide) . and gets in your system through your lungs eyes and skin ,so a cheap job it might not be . i'm not having a rant . just trying to help . my bodyshop is Gary's Bodycraft in Bozeat wellingborough 07770 237502 5 miles from the pod . ( i can hear you guys racing while i'm doing my mk1 escort and no one comes to see me
escort new boy Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 what sort of money do you charge for full re-spray ready preped mk2 rs2000
Gazza Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 hi full respray ? does this mean engine bay ,inside ,underneath .. colour ie clear over base or straight colour. prepping needs to be spot on otherwise the slightest blemish will magnify when shiney.. phone me tomorrow after 10 am.

But, that is a VERY valid point! Lee
Rick Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 damn. never knew that. is that in the primer aswell. better get me a proper mask then dont fancy death
RedditchJay Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Cheap jobs have a cheap finish.... my Mexico was painted in 1988 at a cost of £1400 back then, but 18 years on it still looks the mutts nuts with only one or two small blemish marks coming through. I got quotes for a full respray {no inside or engine bay} and I would spend around £2000 on the outside being repainted. For me, well worth every penny as I would want to keep my Mexico as tidy as poss at all times.... Jay
deluxe Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 must obviously use a organic solvent mask, googles and a hat. Sure it will harm you less spraying an hour or two in your lifetime than someone doing it for a living
Gazza Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 must obviously use a organic solvent mask, googles and a hat. Sure it will harm you less spraying an hour or two in your lifetime than someone doing it for a living you really need air fed mask ,full chemical suit and some decent extraction, only problem then is the extractor pulls all the shit on to the nice sticky 2 pack ... its true that if you do it for a job you are going to affect yourself more than on one job... it makes you cough and you get headaches then it goes to asma . its swings and roundabouts you get 1 chance to get it right and theres a million things to f*** it up. luv Gaz
