electric fan or viscous

If it was on the back it would be 'pull' fan. All you have to do is swap the connections over and make it a 'push'

 

Im probably wrong so slap me if I am, but aren't the fan blades on a 'puller' and a 'pusher' a different shape? What I mean is surely a 'puller' running backwards wont push as much air as 'pusher' running normally? (Does that make sense?)

 

Grab the fan from a peugeot (205/ 405/306) They push a hell of a lot of air and are quite slim.

 

You're spot on. A pusher and a puller have different shaped blades and whilst reversing the connections will give you an airflow, it'll be way down on efficiency.

 

Dead right! Jim knows all about this as he had probs with his Capri.

 

The original Viscous packed up, so I bought a Pacet fan. Excellent fan... well made etc. etc., but, I bought a pusher (or so the box suggested), wired it up and went for a drive. The engine boiled over... Why??? because although I wired it up for a pusher... which is what I thought I had bought, the fan was actually a puller in a pusher box.

 

So I had to order another mounting kit and mount the fan engine side of the rad. I think mine is a 14 inch, but it could really do with a 16 inch. At the time though, I was desperate, so had to suck it and see.

 

BTW, always mount an electric fan as close to the top of your rad as possible. The water flows from top to bottom, so you want it to be cooled down the instant it enters the rad.

check what room youve got before you take the old one off the fiiesta one has a motor sticking out the back which could well foul the engine and to be honest mate id get a better fan, ive got a mk3 fezza fan strapped to mine as its a little bigger and got an extra blade
