I wasn't really sure where to put this sp feel free to move it

i want to wire my cd player so it turns on and off via a flick switch, but i'm unsure how to wire it up.

Does anyone have the know how to do this?

Diagrams would help too :)

Thanks, james

cant you just wire it through a switch instead of the ignition

ie the wire which would go to the ignition put it straight to a live either fuse box or battery via your said flick switch

at the back on the ISO blocks ther is a power cable, normally red(it will tell you on the sticker on the player), just cut that, put a switch on it, and put it in ur dash, 99% sure it would work, hell 2 year course in electrical engineering, i would hope i am right!

i thought about this again today, putting a switch on the supply cable wouldn't i lose all the memory settings?

could i possibly put the switch on the earth or is this a bad idea??

dunno about yours, but mine's got a permanent live and a switched live, just put a switch on the switched live if it's got one

sometimes the memory is fed from a separate wire that is a direct connection to the batt (orange i think)

switching the main supply to the rad prob wont turn it on as most modern radios need to be switched on on the head unit once power is applied (hope that makes sense)

usually on most players you will have an earth (black) live (red) and memory live (yellow)

put the switch on the red one and keep the yellow one constant . you will be able to switch it on and off but keeping the memories and clock .

if you find it doesnt work switch the red and yellow . try it first before fitting the switch . just use some bullet connectors

edited to say : not too sure how much your cd player would like this but i guess its much the same as switching the ignition off
