jimbo Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 only pours....... Not ocntent with a blown head gasket and leaky rad, I followed some earlier advice (good advice too) to remove and check out the state of the water pump. When I went to remove it, I was amazed at how loose one of the bolts was 'til I discovered it had sheared off. Leaving this :( I've doused it in WD40 and shocked it with a small hammer and centrepunch, ready to have a go with the mole-grips tomorrow. However, if that don't work what would you folks suggest? Cheers, Jim
toad650 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 heat it up with a blow lamp before you go at it, try n find proper stud extractor over mole grips but if thats all you've got be careful don't wanna snap it anymore, been there done that
Smudger105e Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Burns had that problem on his fezza, but it was seized in the pump, the broken bolt came out quite easily
jimbo Posted July 18, 2007 Author Report Posted July 18, 2007 That's what I'm hoping. It should only been done up with 5-7 lbs/ft of torque. I'll look into stud extractors. Never seen one, never used one.
toad650 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Theres some big industrial ones that'll be a bit over the top and fiddly for that but there are some nice rachet ones that look like a sockets not sure on the price though could be a bit over the top for a one off. Mole grips will do had to do loads that way myself and as you say shouldn't be in that tight anyhe.
jimbo Posted July 21, 2007 Author Report Posted July 21, 2007 Well it came out OK in the end. 24 hours in WD40 and a twist with my brand new mole grips! Now, where's that receipt for the stud extractor kit?
