You can thank Mr livingstone and his LEZ scheme which starts in Feb 2008 will kill off the last operating London Oval circuit. With the intended daily charge for non conforming lorries(currently must be no older than 2001) at £200, who will be able to afford that. Most oval drivers using 7.5 tonne lorries will be hit when the charge extends to them in July. It is intended in a couple of years it will extend to van users as well. Deane will be aware the nightmare that surrounds trying to build a circuit from scratch. The costs are just prohibitive, so I suspect any venue that has current oval activity has to be an easier way in. Part of the reason Alwalton cannot restart with a new circuit, as part of planning you have to have an enviormental impact study done and this costs £200,000 apparently.

Ken B Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 They bought it when these big casino licences were announced by the government thinking they would get a licence, unfortunately the government were issuing only a few and Wimbo wasn't chosen. Deane has already made the statement that Wimbo will not survive the LEZ in it later form anyway.
