Bought this last weekend and done a couple of bits on it, painted the grill black, centres of the spokes etc and some general tidying up. Needs new discs and pads now due to a warped disc eating the pads on the left hand side away so im picking them up tomorrow and fitting them.

Shes a 1.6 laser, got lots of history with it, reciept for a full engine rebuild a couple of years ago, not many miles since. MOTs back to the first one in 1990. Mint interior apart from the dash cracks most of them have, No rust anywhere which is great :P.

Oh god im rambling, here are the pics -

Bought this wheel a while a go for a golf project i was doing and never finished the golf so i had it kicking around. Looked up a boss for it and moto lita wanted like £80 for a boss so today i made my own from my old steering and an old brake drum, it looks good and its strong as an ox 8)

Also new Lotus leather gearknob. Slapped in a 3.0 V6 and 4 speed on the 1.6 axle so it goes like stink and made a single exit exhaust and kept the 1.6 badge to keep it sleeper looking :) , i'll get some new pics of the engine etc tomorrow

finished my front and rear bumpers now. Took the over riders off and smoothed the mount bolt heads off. On the front ive also relocated the plate and smoothed off the plate mounts, i think it looks cool as.

nope did the rear bumper in 2 days cause after 2 hours i nearly chopped my finger off so i left it for a day lol. The front i did yesterday in about 3 hours including painting it. All i have done is welded the brackets to the inside of the bumper rather than them being bolted on and welded up the holes, same for the over rider hole. I then took the plate off and with a hammer and dolly i beat the raised mounting tabs flat and flush to the bumper, welded up the holes, smoothed it off with the grinder. The numberplate is held on by a mk1 golf number plate hanger cause they bolt under the bumper and this one is welded on. Then i sprayed it all up, wacked it on and admired my work.

I really love how they look smooth like this. Just need to get the last owners attempt to sort the paintwork sorted out properly and she will be sweet.

Single exhaust and 1.6 badge for the added sleeper effect :)

oh and i made the steering wheel boss myself from an old drum brake and an old laser wheel. Solid, free and looks pretty good. Much better than paying motolita's silly prices.
