Daveyboy20 Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 After doin all the bushes and ball joints, new tyres etc. its getting the tracking laser aligned and then the emmisions done (hopefully, it seems to be burning more oil than it did last week need to get the new engine in really) Problem is, the other day i had the 'great' idea to chop my bodged up backbox off and replace it with some ally scaffold bar from my mates work. Problem is he didnt get it to me till 10pm last night, car booked in 9am this mornin. So there i am last night with a full length scaffold bar and an angle grinder, cut it down and bodged it on but coz he didnt have time to make the bends it fouled the rear valance, had to use the end of the bar with the claw to grasp the pipe and stick the other end of the pipe over the original mount . Probably gonna fail, we'll see. After all this work it'd be annoying to fail on something stupid that ive done!
Stu_B Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Good luck mate If it fails at least you get to do a massive burnout, ain't nothing as good as a burnout done in anger
Daveyboy20 Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 Cheers fellas, still havent hear anythin yet fingers crossed! If it fails at least you get to do a massive burnout, ain't nothing as good as a burnout done in anger
Daveyboy20 Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 Useless!! gave them the car 9am, just got a call, 4:20pm Garage --"Have you had the track rod eds off mate?" Me -- "Err, no, why?" Garage -- "Coz they're totally seized" Me -- "Have you tried using a pair of stilsons on the end and spanner on the nut?" Garage -- "No. I'll try that" What the fook?
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 so whats happened then dont they have gas bottles it woudnt be the first time ive taken a car and they heated the nut up then job done
Daveyboy20 Posted August 3, 2007 Author Report Posted August 3, 2007 Yeah they've tryed heating it, the fellas in idiot. Umming and arring when i went in, typical mechanic. I'm not gonna let a garage do any work for me again, i didnt really want to this time i just thought after doing all the work id get some 'professionals' to track it properly. So i give it to some goon who cant even remove a nut and is bound to be totting up the labour charge and hourly rate. Useless. Gave it to them at 9am yesterday, rushed about in the morning getting it ready and all they did yesterday were the emmisions Wish id just got my rulers out and done the trackin myself. Can he fail my exhuast if its too loud? is there anything in the MOT that governs loudness? He was grumbling when i went in before tht it was too loud Im not very happy with this garage
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 i dont think they have anything as such to test for the noise but they can be funny about it on my escort it was a full 2" system straight through it did have one box at the rear but no baffles id removed them and he didnt mention it atall it passed
