 Bloody hell, i went to a car meet local to me, my cousin is part of a chavvy car club and i just went down to show them what a real car is! Anyway, after showing off and doing some burnouts etc, i went home and saw that there was smoke coming out of the bonnet and oil dripping out pretty rapidly!. I got home but it was too dark to see anything and after spending a restless and sleepless night i was out in the garage at the moment i woke. It turned out that the oil pressure guage pipe had popped off the little nipple thing on the engine thus chucking oil all over the engine bay!! I lost lots of oil and was lucky not too have killed the engine!!

It worries me that its just a peice of pipe that simply pushes onto this little nipple and that is meant to stay there?? What does everyone else run in their pinto's??? And where can i get some new pipe from??

Cheers all.

Nice one mate. Just baffles me that it's just a simple push -on connection that has around 60 psi running through it!!! :?

I am with Noodle on this one!!

I bought my Mk1 Escort RS/Mex with a fooked engine because the twat who had it before me had neglected the need of connecting the oil pressure unit. As soon as I bought the car, I rebuilt the engine and fitted an electric unit instead!! I know there are those that will say that it isnt accurate enough and It is personal preference but I have had mine fitted nine years and never a problem yet with the pressure!!
