Mk1 Escort Wipers

Hello Everyone, the passenger side wiper off my Escort popped off today. It does not appear to be broken but I am finding it difficult to affix back on. Is there a simple way of putting it back on? Anyone had the same issue?

there is a little tab just on the lip that makes it stay on...pull it out slightly when you put it on

Sometimes the alloy cog can work its way off the wiper motor mechanism splined spindle , really you need to take the motor out and press it back on , if you have to improvise like I did on holiday in Cornwall , you can get a helpful friend to brace the mechanism from the inside with a long piece of 4 x 2 wood and knock it back on carefully with a small mallet , taking care not to take out your windscreen in the process...if its only the wiper arm thats not playing ball its just a question of pushing it on at the correct angle , its a bit like losing your virginity
