quattro Posted August 17, 2007 Author Report Posted August 17, 2007 how is a new rad going to help? i assume its holding water? i'd check the water pump Yeah the rad looks really old and corroded. I will check the waterpump in the morning. Cranleigh is only 2 miles away from me, so I might just give them a call in the morning PMA also in Cranleigh can do me a thermostat for next to nothing. I presume I can get waterpumps easy enough.
bomber1 Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 some times m8 went into pma and euro car parts for bits for my escort and nothing to old dont sell enough to stock them so my motor factors of choice is camberly auto factors in guilford 01483579383 then its autocare in bordon 01420478321 will say a m8 has a capri and found euro's helpfull and camberly's crap. so let us know how u get on
FBF Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 id say unless your rad is leaking thats not going to be your problem.
quattro Posted August 18, 2007 Author Report Posted August 18, 2007 Thanks for the numbers Jason, will give them a try today. I'm now starting to think it might be a water pump, I did loads of miles in it last night (about 70 miles) and temperatue flucuates quite a lot. Some times it was even running very cold, then very hot, then cold again. It has also developed a really awful squeeking noise that is linked into engine speed, it was dark but I can only presume it has something to do with water pump. Thanks for your help guys!
