Gonzo Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 STAY THE F*CK AWAY FROM VISTA!!!!!! It's seriousy shite! My mate [former computer techie] managed to break it inside a week and has been running a version of Linux, I think he said, ever since. He really really REALLY hates it! Another mate also is running Vista and his media player's shat itself and died inside 2 weeks of getting the computer and it takes forever to load up and run anything. Yet another mate's craptop won't even think about opening Control Panel and various other programs and he's not even had it 2 months. Stick with XP or even ME/98SE if you can get em. And if you've got a monitor, keyboard etc. already, pop into one of those small high street PC shops and get em to build you a custom one. My bro got a pretty decent spec'd machine running XP for about your budget.
Burns Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 just got a new computer installed at my girlfriend's house, dual core processor (not sure on exact specs) and it's loads better than the last one, guess i'll have to wait for it to break
MK5 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 i would stick with XP. my preference is W2K my son has a pc with Vista and he loves it
flyingbanana Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 never buy a pc which ha a new operating system....has they are never finished....hence why there is so many updates for xp!...so think about how long it will take them to for vista
mr shag Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 thanks for the warnings about vista stopped in currys this evening sales guy whent on that vista was ok and there were no problems then the laptop he was demonstrating on had a small softwear crash i walked out laughing think i better find a laptop with xp on it
Copey Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 yeah vista isnt that good, wait a while for them to work out the bugs and it will ba great tho, but now...its SO slow, its unreal, takes an age to open the media center and is has these gadgets, and the glitch all the time, things like a clock, calender, weather reports etc at the right of the screen, they always either crash or randomly open hundreds of the sam one!! and the little 3D window stakcer thing doesnt work very well and the little preview of the program when you highlight the tab on the start bar takes longer to load than the actual program does...stick with XP imo, i am, learnt from my dads mistake
