MK5 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 when i first had lessons i did a week long intensive course with a test at the end. i failed the test due to a dodgy take away the night before - i just wanted to get back to the test centre to use the loo after that i drove for a long while without a licence i then had another few lessons with a cr@p instructor (in an Astra) - he kept cancelling and stuff so i changed instructors. failed test with this guy cos his car broke down and i couldn't complete the test. failed third test cos i took it in my own car - examiner took one look at the 3.0 turbo charged Supra and decided i'd failed i then had some lessons with a bloke called Pete (in Plymouth) who was marvellous. think i only had about 8 lessons with him. passed test on 4th attempt

sab6024 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 God I still remember my lessons and test. I did 40 hours on the road then took my test a month after my 18th birthday. I was still recovering from a nasty kidney infection caused by my drinks being spiked on my birthday I was sick as a dog and I passed. The examiner said he put it down to nerves I went home and went back to bed Didn't start to get out and about til a month later. Then I bought my first car 6 months later a Mk1 Escort. I would to hate to learn to drive now
martymk1 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I would to hate to learn to drive now agree with that took my tests in 1979, failed my first one due to nerves, then passed my second one, also i tried my advanced test soon after, failed that, took it too early after passing' good luck withh your lessons
Copey Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 aaahhhh learning to drive!!! when i first started i loved it, and by the end i hated it, havin to do everything properly was stupid!! took me 14 lessons to pass, got 34/35 and 68 on hazard or summert and 7 minors, but hey 14hrs and pass 1st time
ann_capri Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 aaahhhh learning to drive!!! when i first started i loved it, and by the end i hated it, havin to do everything properly was stupid!! took me 14 lessons to pass, got 34/35 and 68 on hazard or summert and 7 minors, but hey 14hrs and pass 1st time i dont think i'll be that quick , i'v had 8hrs already and am only on 2 for the 1-10 charts , so might take a while to get to 10 , but when i do then i'll be ready for my test
NHR115 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I started my lessons the week after Christmas and passed the following March (first time). I thought they'd put me through my test after a few lessons but the instructor told me i wouldn't pass. I got so bored with having to go for lessons cause i knew i could drive but it had to be done. Good luck with the lessons though, you'll get there soon enough. Have you done your theory yet? I hear the DVLA are changing the theory in September!!!
ann_capri Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 no not yet , still got lots to learn , im using driving test success, and have a go every day , but only got a pass 6 times, and the rest im about 1 or 2 questions wrong so get a fail , but i will get there but the 50 questions will be in by then
NHR115 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Keep trying - you can do it. The theory is mainly common sense but keep doing the driving test success thingy. Thats what i used and the questions in the real test are identical to the questions on that practice test.
antz Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 took my from august to march to pass...which also involved a 3 week holiday to asia passed theory first time with 34 out of 35 and 49 out of 75 on my hazzard perception. failed first test due to cutting up a mini who was up my arse and passed second time

bmxdave Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 If it takes a while then at least you know youve had plenty of practice. I started lessons in september and did my test on the 20th of december. A lesson every week i could. Instead of going in headfirst once my instructor said i was ready, i said no and booked the test a little later purely so i knew i was 110% ready. I passed first go (4 minors) and i account it to just taking my time. The theory is common sense mixed with a little memory. The video thing is stupid. Just click a lot but not too much. i was always confident on them and i think its the best way to be. Just take your during the test, theres no rush.
surfingturnip Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 starting learning in around september time hopefully
