stoppodriver Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Can anyone who raced Hot Rods back in the seventies tell me if they used to weld the diffs ? Is a fully locked diff at any disadvantage over LSD ? When i was a kid we used to weld up the diff on an Imp we had to race on the fields and it never failed - even after several years use . Would welding a diff be a viable alternative to a LSD ? Regards AL.
Admin Vista Posted August 31, 2007 Admin Report Posted August 31, 2007 It would be a viable but poor alternative to an LSD as some slippage is desirable for decent cornering.
Liam. Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 i had welded diff on my old hot rods, and any rwd banger i have i always weld the diff, normall diffs aint worth a w##k, and lsd's are too expencive!
stoppodriver Posted September 3, 2007 Author Report Posted September 3, 2007 That just about sums it up . That's exactly what I was thinking , I know Barry Lee had his salisbury LSD set up so it was almost fully locked . Regards AL.
