V8ian Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Done them in the past when we have been unable to get a jet to suit a particular set-up we have tried, Normally done it when the weather has changes ans we have been stuck for the right size jet, its a bit of an experiment really, as you never know if you are going the right way, I have scrapped sidedrafts with some of my experiments, mainly with drilling or fileing progressions too far, jets at least can be replaced, If you intend to do it yourself you will need a good selection of number and letter drills, I am fortunate my dad was a toolmaker and I have inherreted his sets of drills, and more, I have drills right down to 4 thousandths of an inch,[about a human hair] how the hell you drill a hole that size or why I will probably never know but you will certainly need access to a GOOD engineers supplier to get the number and letter drills. a good investment would also be a nice pin vice and an archemedes hand drill , Be much easier to do FI, I never had any real success with drilling jets as webber im most cases have the one you need, its only when you are looking for that extra last 1 HP that they will come into play,
