Why do we need silencers?

Hi all.

Getting a new exhaust system fitted to the Fairlane this week so I just popped in to the garage Today to see how they were getting on.

The old system is all off waiting for the new one to be fitted so we just had to have a little listen

If they weren't so damn heavy I would have one in the mex engine bay! I'm still toying with the idea of a rear mounted V8 in my fez. That's a little bit of a dream though.

I could have sat and listened to it all day,seems a real shame to put silencers on

 

And johnnyh a 3.5 Rover's not that much heavier than a Pinto.Go on you know it makes sense
