What I need to know is can anyone help with what front end (struts and crossmember) i need for the zetec to go in??! Can I use escort items?? Remember im pretty new to this If someone could point me in the right direction cheers liam

GT_Jim Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 im doing this to my 4 door mk1, what you need is a mk2 escort x member, rack and steering coloumn (i havent tried the latter yet) struts from a capri, if you can get the 2.8 billies at a decent price go for it but im looking for 2l struts - they are the same but dont have the bilstein inserts which you can buy anyway and then go coil overs with them the crossmember does need modifying but its simple stuff. about 10-15mm off the engine mounts and just elongate the bolt holes about 5mm
ZetecTinaLee Posted October 9, 2007 Author Report Posted October 9, 2007 Havent done more than ten replys Cant put up piccys!!
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 Why don't you swap the cortina for a car with a zetec already in it. Like my van for instance. I'd just love a two door mk1
oliwally Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 http://www.oldfordautos.co.uk/phdi/p1.n ... ent&part=6 Look here, they do a kit to fit most of what you need. then I'd suspect all you need is some retro zetec goodies that you use to fit zetecs into escorts and maybe fabricate/mod some engine mounts. Looks like most of there stuff is bolt in. Where about in Warlingham You from?
ZetecTinaLee Posted October 9, 2007 Author Report Posted October 9, 2007 Zetec van- lol na thanks I prefer the tina Shes gona rip Yep old ford autos is where the bits will prob be coming from then retrro ford for all the zetec bits and bobs!! Near the green in warlingham, theres another cortina actually at the end of my road!!
