Josh_gsy Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 hey! what damage would i have done to my 1300 delux if i snapped the timiming chain? also whats best 1600 engine to put in in its place? the OHV or OHC? oh and do they do twincam kits to make them go fast if not how do i make them fast? cheers!!
Smudger105e Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Apparently ythe timing chain is one of the weak points on a precross flow or crossflow engine. Not sure about crossflows, but as the precross has a chambered head, the vavles should not hit the piston, so it is unlikely to have caused terminal damage.
dragaddict Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 to make an it depends on how much you want to spend
Rick Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 never heard of a chain breaking... plenty of belts slipping off though.
dragaddict Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 your right rick i either never heard of one, but i think there is allways a first time
Josh_gsy Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 my sypmtoms are that the valves/rockers dont move when pushing the car back by hand?
tim Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 u can make a xflow twin cam but there expensive cant say ive heard of a chain snappin either
Smudger105e Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Apparently the chains can snap when the engine is really revved. But I'm sure some engine builders on here can confirm or deny that snippet that I picked up donkey's years ago.
w p e Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 have never heard or had a chain break on a x/flow have had the woodruff key shere on the crank.
Josh_gsy Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 so its prob not the chain something else then! i aint gonna repair it atm anyway i wanna put something bigger in! would you say the 1.6 OHC or the OHV engine would be best?
tim Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 1600 ohv or 2000 ohc dont waste your time with a 1600ohc
Josh_gsy Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 cool cheers, what differences were there between 1600 OHC and 2000 OHC?
