countrybumpkin Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 the wiring loom on my mk1 escort really needs replacing, as after nearly 40 years not only have the cables have corroded inside but there has been so many modifications to it, it looks a mess and probably isnt that safe, it dose work fine which is a plus point but i would like to sort it out manly for my own peice of mind that i'm not going to come back to a burn out wreck. what i have been toying with is building a custom loom from scratch, as theres nothing to complex about a mk1 loom i'm thinking it shouldnt be to hard. my main reason for wanting to build a new loom is so that it would have all new conectors and wires and more fuse's. what do you guys think about the idea? anything i should look out for?
Muttley MK2 Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Good idea mate, just be sure to check the load requirements relative to each wire and you will have to make up a colour code of your own. Draw a schematic diagram first with all the components shown. Then you can add any extras like fuse boxes, live feeds etc. If you have any probs help is always on here
